Hiram Calvin
Hiram Augustus Calvin (April 6, 1841 – January 13, 1932) was a businessman and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Frontenac as an Independent Conservative from 1892 to 1896 and as a Conservative from 1900 to 1904. He was born on Garden Island, Canada West, the son of Delino Dexter Calvin and Marion Breck, and was educated there, at the Woodstock Literary Institute and at Queen's University. Calvin joined his father's business and later succeeded him as lumber merchant, ship builder and forwarder. He also helped establish the Kingston Foundry and Machinery Company. In 1879, he married Annie W. Marsh. He served as reeve for Garden Island from 1884 to 1892. Calvin was first elected to the House of Commons in an 1892 by-election held after George Airey Kirkpatrick was named Lieutenant-Governor. Calvin did not run for reelection in 1896. Hiram Burgos (born August 4, 1987) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Milwaukee Brewers. Early life When he was three years old his parents, Hiram Burgos Delgado and Ivette Irizarry Arce, introduced him to the sport by visiting baseball parks. He attended the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School and Bethune-Cookman College. Burgos expected to be selected in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft after recording a 9-1 season while pitching for Bethune-Cookman University, but was disappointed after going undrafted. As a consequence of this, he decided to complete his bachelor's degree following the insistence of his mother. Hiram Law Bullock (September 11, 1955 – July 25, 2008) was an American guitarist known mainly for playing in jazz funk and jazz fusion, but he also worked as a session musician in a variety of genres. Biography Bullock was born in Osaka, Japan, to African American parents serving in the U.S. military. At the age of two he returned to Baltimore, Maryland, with his parents and showed musical talent. He studied piano at the city's Peabody Conservatory of Music, giving his first public performance at the age of six. After playing saxophone and bass guitar, he took up the electric guitar at age sixteen. Bullock attended McDonogh School for Boys in Reisterstown, Maryland. He was captain of the band in middle school. He studied at the University of Miami, where he met guitarists Pat Metheny and Steve Morse, and bass players Jaco Pastorius and Will Lee. Hiram Bond was born May 10, 1838 in Farmersville, Cattaraugus County, New York and died in Seattle March 29, 1906. He was a corporate lawyer, investment banker and an investor in various businesses including gold mining. His family are descended from William Bond (Massachusetts politician) an early 17th-century immigrant from Bury St. Edmunds in East Anglia. He was the son of Hiram Bond M.D. and Almeda Slusser and was married to Laura Ann Higgins. He had two children- Louis Whitford Bond born in New York City, New York in 1865 and Marshall Latham Bond born in Orange, Virginia in 1867. Hiram Gabriel Bocachica Colón (born March 4, 1976) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, and San Diego Padres. Hiram Abiff Boaz (1866–1962) was the president of Polytechnic College from 1902 to 1911, and of Southern Methodist University from 1920 to 1922. He then became an American bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Biography Hiram Abiff Boaz was born in Murray, Kentucky, on December 18, 1866. He graduated from the Sam Houston Normal Institute in 1887, and Southwestern University, from which he received a B.S. in 1893 and an M.A. in 1894. In 1894, he married Carrie Browne, daughter of a Methodist preacher. They met while both were attending Sam Houston Normal School; the couple later had three daughters. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He became a Methodist pastor and served in Fort Worth, Abilene, and Dublin. From 1902 to 1911, he served as the president of Polytechnic College.
