Adam Hiorth
Adam Severin Hiorth (16 December 1816 – 20 December 1871) was a Norwegian merchant and industrial pioneer. Personal life Hiorth was born in Drøbak as a son of shipmaster Fredrik Wilhelm Hiorth (1776–1844) and Louise Caroline Brodersen (1776–1860s). He died in Aker in 1871. He married Anne Sofie Sommerfelt (1824–1898) in March 1849 in Lillehammer. She was a daughter of priest and botanist Søren Christian Sommerfeldt (1794–1838), and thus a sister of Christian Sommerfelt and Karl Linné Sommerfeldt. He was an uncle of engineer Fredrik Hiorth and the grandfather of painter Agnes Hiorth. A son of Adam Hiorth married Giggi Sommerfelt, a daughter of dean Halfdan Einar Sommerfelt and granddaughter of Hiorth's business partner Ole Gjerdrum. Adam Hiorth (barrister)
Adam Hiorth (5 January 1879 – 1961) was a Norwegian barrister and playwright. He was born in Spydeberg as a son of director Wilhelm Fredrik Hiorth (1850–1923) and Konstanse Hansen (1856–1943). He was married to stenographer Dagny Munthe Aalheim from 1915, later to actress Lydia Marie Opøien. Career He finished his secondary education in 1897, finished training as a conscript officer in 1898 and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1904. He was a deputy judge from 1904 to 1905, attorney in Gjøvik from 1905, and ''manuduktør'' from 1907 to 1917, especially in Roman law. He practiced as a barrister in Kristiania from 1914 to 1954. He was also known as public defender during the legal purge in Norway after World War II. Albert Hiorth
Albert Karl Fredrik Hiorth (17 November 1876 – 12 September 1949) was a Norwegian engineer. He was born in Kristiania as a son of engineer Fredrik Hiorth. He took his education at Kristiania Technical School and the University of Geneva. He was a member of the Faraday Society. After further studies abroad he settled in Asker. Hiorth was hired in Kværner in 1899, and became the CEO of Bjølvefossen in 1906. In 1909 he became the CEO of Aurlandsfaldene. A devout Christian and member of the Victoria Institute, he was reputed to look to the Bible for authoritative accounts on present phenomena. He was an active lay preacher, was active in the Palestine Exploration Fund and was especially interested in projects in the British Mandate of Palestine. Åse Hiorth Lervik (2 June 1933 – 3 November 1997) was a Norwegian literary researcher. Biography Lervik was born in Oslo on 2 June 1933. Fredrik Wilhelm Louis Hiorth (February 4, 1851 – January 1, 1923) was a Norwegian engineer and industrialist. Early life and family Hiorth was born in Aker.
