Hinsdale (Metra)
Hinsdale is one of three stations on Metra's BNSF Line in Hinsdale, Illinois, and the only one open daily (the other two are only served during rush hours). The station is from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Hinsdale is in zone D. As of 2018, Hinsdale is the 35th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,155 weekday boardings. There is a historic staffed station and commercial use building. Hinsdale is a village in Cook and DuPage counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. Hinsdale is a western suburb of Chicago. The population was 17,395 at the 2020 census, most of whom lived in DuPage County. The town's ZIP code is 60521. The town has a rolling, wooded topography, with a downtown, and is a 22-minute express train ride to downtown Chicago on the Burlington Northern line. Geography Hinsdale is located west of Chicago and is bordered by Western Springs to the east, Clarendon Hills and Westmont to the west, Oak Brook to the north, and Burr Ridge and Willowbrook to the south. It can be reached by highway from Interstate 294 or Interstate 55. The eastern boundary of Hinsdale is I-294, and the western boundary is Route 83. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad was a railroad that operated in the Midwestern United States. The BNSF Line (also known informally as the "Racetrack") is a Metra commuter rail line operated by the BNSF Railway in Chicago and its western suburbs. In 2010, the BNSF Line continued to have the highest weekday ridership (average 64,600) of the 11 Metra lines. Downtown Hinsdale Historic District
The Downtown Hinsdale Historic District is a set of seventy-three buildings and one park in Hinsdale, Illinois, Hinsdale, Illinois. History The region was platted by William Robbins, the founder of Hinsdale, in 1865. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad's (CB&Q) passenger station prompted several small businesses to develop across the street. Fifty-eight of the listed buildings were built for commerce, three for government, and nine for transportation. The remaining building is a theater.
