Hinako Shibuno
is a Japanese professional golfer who won the 2019 Women's British Open. Early years Shibuno was born in Okayama, Japan on 15 November 1998. Her father was a discus thrower and her mother was a javelin thrower. She is the middle child of their three daughters. She started playing golf and softball when she was a second grader. As a softball player, she was a pitcher and a converted left-handed hitter. As a golfer, she finished third in the 2010 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship (4th, 5th, and 6th grader division). At Jōtō junior high school, she joined the school's baseball club as the only female player. The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Lizette Salas (born July 17, 1989) is an American professional golfer currently playing on the LPGA Tour. Early life and education Born and raised in Azusa, California, Salas graduated from Azusa High School in 2007 and went on to play college golf at the University of Southern California, where she graduated in 2011 with a degree in sociology. She was the first member of her immediate family to earn a college degree. Amateur career Salas earned a golf scholarship to the University of Southern California. LPGA Qualifying Tournament
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage. The 2014 Evian Championship was played 11–14 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 21st Evian Championship (the first 19 played as the Evian Masters), and the second as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Kim Hyo-joo, age 19, shot an opening round 61 (−10) and held on to total 273 (−11), one stroke ahead of runner-up Karrie Webb. The 1977 LPGA Championship was the 23rd LPGA Championship, played June 9–12, 1977 at the Gold Course of Bay Tree Golf Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Chako Higuchi won her only major title, three strokes ahead of runners-up Pat Bradley, Sandra Post, and Judy Rankin. The purse was nearly tripled this year to $150,000, up from $55,000 in 1976.
