Hillsdale is an unincorporated community in Miami County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the community and nearby areas was 247. Hillsdale is located near U.S. Route 169 and K-7 north-northeast of Paola. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. History Hillsdale, originally called Columbia, was laid out in 1869 when the railroad was extended to that point. The first post office in Columbia, established in August 1868, was renamed Hillsdale in April 1870, and still has a post office with ZIP code 66036. Demographics For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Hillsdale as a census-designated place (CDP). Hillsdale State Park is a state park in Paola, Kansas, United States. This park located in eastern Kansas was built on the shore of Hillsdale Lake which was completed in 1982. Hillsdale Lake
Hillsdale Lake is a reservoir located in the northwestern part of Miami County, in northeast Kansas and the central United States; it is approximately from Kansas City. The surface area of the lake is approximately , and the lake has a maximum depth of approximately . Hillsdale Dam, impounding the Big Bull Creek to create the V-shaped reservoir, was completed in 1982 as a flood control project of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. K-7 (Kansas Highway)
K-7 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kansas. It is mostly a small country highway winding its way through the Osage Questas and Glaciated Regions of eastern Kansas, although a portion of the highway passes through the Kansas City metropolitan area. Significant portions of the highway overlap with U.S. Route 169 (US-169) and US-73. It also has junctions with two Interstate highways, Interstate 35 (I-35) in Olathe and I-70 in Bonner Springs. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
