Hillerød Stadium
Hillerød Stadium ( da, Hillerød Stadion) is a multi-use sports complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It is currently used for football matches and is the home stadium of Hillerød Fodbold. The complex was earlier the site of the Selskov Stadium and was used for motorcycle speedway events, often with crowds in excess of 10,000. Football Frederiksborg Slotssogn stood behind the 1958 construction of a new sports facility at the Selskov Stadium (which itself was built in 1954), consisting of a couple of association football fields and a small changing room on a hill. Selskov Stadium was expanded in 1977, with three new association football fields established. In 1986, a new clubhouse was constructed and funded by the city council. Hillerød Fodbold is a Danish association football club, located in the district of Ullerød in the western part of Hillerød, that is an independent men's football department of the sports club, Hillerød Gymnastik- og Idrætsforening (HGI). Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Kastrup () is a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark, on the east coast of Amager in Tårnby Municipality. It is the site of Copenhagen Airport. Speedway World Championship
The World Championship of Speedway is an international competition between the highest-ranked motorcycle speedway riders of the world, run under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM). The first official championships were held in 1936. Today, this official FIM championship is organised as a series of Speedway Grand Prix events, where points are awarded according to performance in the event and tallied up at the end of each season. However, up to 1994, it was run as a single-night event after qualifying rounds during the season, leading up to a big final of 20 heats, where points were awarded according to riders' heat placings and then tallied up at the end. Danish Individual Speedway Championship
Individual Speedway Danish Championship is the National competition for Danish speedway riders to determine the champion of Denmark. The event was first held in 1947. From 1947 to 1951 there was no definitive difference between the short track and long track Championship of Denmark resulting in the same winner being recorded for both versions. Qualification Riders holding a Danish passport and a valid DMU licence. Riders must submit their entries at least four weeks before the first meeting of the competition. Any riders who competed in the Speedway Grand Prix or World Championship Qualifying rounds during the previous season are seeded directly to the Final. The DMU may also seed other riders directly to the Final at their discretion. Erik Gundersen
Erik Gundersen (born 8 October 1959 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is a former motorcycle speedway rider in the late 1970s and 1980s. Gundersen is one of the most successful speedway riders of all time. He was the Speedway World Champion on three occasions, a two time Long Track World Champion, a five time World Pairs Champion, and a seven time World Team Cup winner with Denmark. Gundersen won the World Pairs Championship a record five years in succession from 1985 to 1989, and won the World Team Cup a record six years in succession from 1983 to 1988. His 17 World Championship wins sees him sit second for the most World Championships won. Fellow Dane and Gundersen's long time Danish teammate Hans Nielsen holds the record with 22 World titles, though unlike Gundersen, Nielsen never won the Long Track World Championship. Slangerup Speedway Center is a motorcycle speedway facility located on the western outskirts of Slangerup, Denmark. The track is on the Hørup Skovvej road. The stadium is the home track for the Slangerup Speedway Klub.
