Wilhelm Hillebrand (Pfarrer)
Wilhelm or William Hillebrand (November 13, 1821 – July 13, 1886) was a German physician. He practiced medicine in several different countries, including for over 20 years in the Hawaiian islands. In 1850, Hillebrand lived at what is now Foster Botanical Garden in Honolulu and gained acknowledgement as a botanist. Life and career Hillebrand was born on November 13, 1821, in Nieheim, Province of Westphalia, Prussia. His father was Judge Franz Josef Hillebrand, and mother Louise Pauline Konig. He studied medicine at Heidelberg and Berlin, and practiced at Paderborn. He sought a warmer climate to recover from a lung problem, (perhaps tuberculosis), first traveling to Australia in 1849, and then the Philippines. Hillebrand then went to San Francisco and finally arrived in the Hawaii on December 22, 1850. He stayed for a little over 20 years and made significant contributions to local medical practice. Nikolaus Hillebrand
Nikolaus Hillebrand (born 1948) is a German operatic bass-baritone, who was engaged at the Bavarian State Opera, among others, and appeared at international festivals such as Bayreuth and Taormina. As a boy he was a member of the Regensburger Domspatzen, and returned to record sacred music with the group as a soloist. Career Hillebrand was born in Głuchołazy. He was a member of the boys' choir Regensburger Domspatzen, the choir of the Regensburg Cathedral. He studied voice at the Musikhochschule Köln with Rolf Dieter Knoll, and at the Musikhochschule München with Hanno Blaschke. He was engaged at the Lübeck Opera from 1973 where he made his debut. William Francis Hillebrand
William Francis Hillebrand (December 12, 1853 – February 7, 1925) was an American chemist. Biography He was the son of the renowned botanist William Hillebrand. He studied at Cornell University and then in Germany at the University of Heidelberg where he received his Ph.D. in 1875. He then worked with Robert Bunsen for two semesters. His research on metallic cerium, which he together with Thomas Norton obtained first in 1872, started his academic career. He studied organic chemistry for three semesters with Wilhelm Rudolph Fittig at the University of Strasbourg, but changed to geochemistry and metallurgy by studying at the Freiberg Mining Academy. After returning home to the United States in 1878, he opened an assay office in Leadville, Colorado, in 1879, and then started working as a chemist at the United States Geological Survey in 1880. He succeeded in escaping and lived for a time in Strassburg, Paris — where for several months he was Heinrich Heine's secretary — and Bordeaux. Arthur Ralph Thomas "Doc" Hillebrand (March 9, 1876 – December 14, 1941) was an American football and baseball player and coach. He played college football as a tackle for Princeton University. Hillebrand served as head football coach at the United States Naval Academy from 1901 to 1902 and at his alma mater, Princeton, from 1903 to 1905, compiling a career college football coaching record of 35–15–2.
