Hilde Sejersted
Hilde Sejersted, née Robberstad (born 19 May 1941) is a Norwegian philologist and teacher. She spent her professional career as a teacher in history, Latin and Norwegian at Oslo Cathedral School from 1968 to 2008. She has also released two books ''Om Garman & Worse'' (1996) and ''Latinen lenge leve. Anne Vibeke Roggen (born 1 February 1952) is a Norwegian philologist, known for her translations from Latin and among the country's foremost experts on the humanist Niels Thomessøn. Career Roggen is Associate Professor at the University of Oslo, specialising in philology, Latin translation and the work of the priest Niels Thomessøn. She demonstrated that his work "Cestus Sapphicus" is a rebus book, and not a textbook in Latin, as claimed by Francis Bull. She has also worked on the reception of Latin in Norway, with a particular focus on texts composed prior to 1650. In 2005, she was admitted to the '' Academia Latinitati Fovendae.'' She writes and speaks widely about the value of classical history and its relevance to life today. The Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature ( no, Det Norske Akademi for Språk og Litteratur), commonly known as the Norwegian Academy, is a Norwegian learned body on matters pertaining to the modern Norwegian language in its Dano-Norwegian variety, now commonly known as Riksmål and Bokmål. Francis Sejersted
Francis Sejersted (8 February 1936 – 25 August 2015) was a Norwegian history professor and the chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee (which awards the Nobel Peace Prize) from 1991 until 1995. Early life Sejersted was born in Oslo. He performed his military service at the prestigious Russian language program of the Norwegian Armed Forces. He was later educated in history as well as Nordic countries, Nordic linguistics and literature at the University of Oslo and achieved a cand.philol. degree in 1965 and a doctorate in 1973.
