Hilde Hefte
Hilde Hefte (born 1 September 1956 in Kristiansand, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz singer. Biography Hefte got much of her musical education from the well reputated Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway with piano as primary and vocals as secondary instruments. She played saxophone and clarinet for ten years when she was young, as an apprentice to her father who was saxophone teacher and musician. She was also trained as an actor, first with Alex Scherpf and later joining a Theater school. She also received an increasing number of roles at Agder Teater and at various other venues, including in plays like ''Fugleelskerne'' by Jens Bjørneboe, and ''Piaf'' by Pan Gam. During a period of some years she was also teaching music at Agder musikkonservatorium before she started as a full-time musician. Her debut solo album ''Round Chet's Midnight'' was released in 1999, and received great reviews, like Down Beat Magazine: "She's making waves on the Norwegian scene." There ... Kristiansand is a seaside resort city and municipality in Agder county, Norway. Prague Philharmonic Orchestra
The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 1995, under the German conductor Friedemann Riehle. The orchestra has since produced many classical and film music recordings, working with labels such as Decca Records, Decca, EMI, Sony BMG and various international film studios. Internationally renowned soloists such as tenor Jonas Kaufmann or cellist Sol Gabetta have recorded CDs with the orchestra. The orchestra performs New Year's Eve Concerts, conducted by Riehle, and has also performed concerts at the Vienna State Opera, all major German concert halls, the Concertgebouw, Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and a special concert broadcast internationally from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Putumayo World Music is a New Orleans-based record label that specializes in compilations of world music, jazz and blues. History Dan Storper founded Putumayo in 1975 as a retail store in New York City featuring handicrafts from around the world. Storper took the name of his company, Putumayo, from Colombia's Putumayo River Valley where he travelled in 1974. ''Putumayo'' is said to mean a heron and "the place where the river begins" in the local indigenous language. He eventually opened 7 world handicraft and clothing boutiques across the northeastern United States. In 1991, on his way home from Bali, Storper stopped in San Francisco, California. In Golden Gate Park, he heard the Nigerian band Kotoja. He was impressed by the music and started compiling international music to play in his stores. Jon Larsen
Jon Larsen (born 7 January 1959) is a gypsy jazz guitarist, record producer, painter, and amateur scientific researcher. He is the founder of the group Hot Club de Norvège. In 2007 he received the Buddy Award for his lifelong contribution to jazz. Career When he was in his early teens, he learned rock and soul songs on an acoustic steel-string guitar. Through friends, he learned about blues, jazz, flamenco, and classical guitar. After he heard "Tears" by Django Reinhardt on the radio, he decided that this is how he wanted his guitar to sound. At seventeen he formed a string trio and had his first professional job. In the 1970s, Larsen worked mainly as a painter. He started the Hot Club de Norvege in 1980 with guitarists Per Frydenlund and bassist Svein Aarbostad. They had a hit record when they performed with pop singer Lillebjørn Nilsen.
