Hilbert, Western Australia
Hilbert is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Armadale. This rural and semi-rural suburb is located on the city's fringe, and in the 2010s began to be subdivided for urban purposes. The name was derived from the Hilbert family who were dairy farmers within the area. A road was proposed through Wilhelm Hermann (known as Herman or Harry) Hilbert's property in 1899, and in 1966 the unconstructed road reserve was named "Hilbert Road". There is also a large wetland in the locality generally referred to as the Hilbert Road Swamp. Electoral District Of Armadale
Armadale is a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. The district is named for the southeastern Perth suburb of Armadale which falls within its borders. History Armadale was created at the 1982 redistribution out of parts of the seats of Dale and Gosnells. It was first contested in the 1983 election at which Labor member Bob Pearce, who had previously represented Gosnells, was successful. The seat has been regarded as very safe for the Labor Party since its creation, and at the 2001 election, the Liberal Party did not even field a candidate for the seat. It was held from 1996 until 2010 by Alannah MacTiernan, the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure in the Gallop and Carpenter governments. On 25 June 2010, MacTiernan resigned from the Western Australian Legislative Assembly to run for the federal seat of Canning. The Division of Canning is an Australian Electoral Division in Western Australia. History The division was created in 1949 and is named for Alfred Canning, the Western Australian government surveyor who surveyed the Canning Stock Route. It was originally a country seat that traded hands between the two main centre-right parties, the Liberal and Country parties. Forrestdale is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Armadale. It is named after John Forrest, the first premier of Western Australia. Geography Forrestdale is home to Forrestdale Lake, a nature reserve important for waterbirds, many of which breed there. It usually fills in winter and dries out in summer. Wungong (older spelling Wongong), pronounced is a semi-rural south-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located midway between Armadale and Byford and located in the local government area of the City of Armadale.
