Hilarion Vendégou
Hilarion Tumi Vendégou (4 September 1941 – 11 January 2020) was a French politician, the high chief of the Isle of Pines, in New Caledonia, and the mayor of the commune. He was recognised as ''grand chef'' in 1974, but, due to a violent succession dispute with his relative Jean-Marie Vendégou, was not formally enthroned until 7 July 1979. He was also the mayor of the island commune, until 2014. On 11 January 2020, Vendégou died at the age of 78. ''Princess Ida; or, Castle Adamant'' is a comic opera with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. It was their eighth operatic collaboration of fourteen. Auguste Hilarion, comte de Kératry (28 December 17697 November 1859), was a French poet, novelist, short story writer, literary critic, historian, and politician. He was the father of Emile de Kératry. Life Hilarion was born in Rennes in Brittany. Coming to Paris in 1790, he associated himself with Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. After being twice imprisoned during the Reign of Terror he retired to his native region, where he devoted himself to literature until 1814. In 1818, after the Bourbon Restoration, he returned to Paris as deputy for Finistère, and sat in the Chamber of Deputies until 1824, becoming one of the recognized liberal leaders. Anne-Hilarion de Costentin, Comte de Tourville (24 November 1642, Paris – 23 May 1701) was a French naval commander who served under King Louis XIV. He was made Marshal of France in 1693. Archimandrite Ilarion (russian: Иларио́н, – 29 May 2008) was a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church. He mostly served in Novgorod Oblast in the small village of Bronnitsa. There, he became widely known as a spiritual father, and many faithful attributed powers of clairvoyance and healing to him. The Russian Church is currently considering him for canonization.
