Hikawa, Kumamoto
is a List of towns in Japan, town located in Yatsushiro District, Kumamoto, Yatsushiro District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The town was formed on October 1, 2005 from the merger of the towns of Miyahara, Kumamoto, Miyahara and Ryuhoku, Kumamoto, Ryūhoku. As of March 2017, the town has an estimated population of 12,250 and a population density, density of 370 persons per km². The total area is 33.29 km². Hikawa, Shimane
was a town located in Hikawa District, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 27,246 and a density of 337.87 persons per km². The total area was 80.64 km². On October 1, 2011, Hikawa was merged into the expanded city of Izumo and no longer exists as an independent municipality. Hikawa District was dissolved as a result of this merger. Hikawa Maru Class Ocean Liner
The was a class of ocean liners of Japan, serving during the 1930s, and after World War II. Background In 1927-28, the NYK Line placed an order for eight ocean liners to reinforce the Japan–Seattle route (3 × ''Hikawa Maru'' class), Japan–San Francisco route (3 × ''Asama Maru'' class), and Japan–London route (2 × ''Terukuni Maru'' class). The ''Hikawa Maru'' class were named the ''Hikawa Maru'', ''Hiye Maru'' (later ''Hei Maru'') and ''Heian Maru''. Service ''Hikawa Maru'' was completed on 25 April 1930. Her maiden voyage was 13 May 1930 for Yokohama–Seattle. Arrived at Seattle on 27 May. She sailed 73 times until August 1941.
