''Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 1'', '' Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 2'', and ''Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 3'' also showcase music from Los Angeles; while two of the later CDs in the Pebbles series, '' Pebbles, Volume 8'' and '' Pebbles, Volume 9'' feature bands from throughout Southern California. Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. The Human Expression was an American garage and psychedelic rock band from Los Angeles that released three well-regarded singles, and made additional demo recordings between 1966 and 1967. History The band formed in 1966, with the members coming from Westminster, California, and Tustin, California (both in Orange County). Jim Quarles came up with the name "because it had a mystical and otherworldly ring", and the father of one of the band members (Jim Foster) served as their manager. The two then began writing songs for the new band: "I didn't know what I was doing at the time. I just wrote the songs with Jim Foster. I didn't have any prior experience." ''The Gigolos'' is a 2005 British comedy film directed by Richard Bracewell, starring Sacha Tarter, Trevor Sather and Ben Willbond alongside Susannah York, Anna Massey, Angela Pleasence and Siân Phillips. Bracewell's debut feature, ''The Gigolos'' is a buddy movie set in the twilight world of the London male escort. In 2010, the ''Daily Telegraph'' listed ''The Gigolos'' as "the most underrated film of all time". The tag line (according to IMDb) is "Everyone Needs Someone", although UK promotional materials use the quote "A provocative glimpse at open secrets" from '' The Hollywood Reporter'' review. Sheldon Talmy (born August 11, 1937) is an American record producer, songwriter and arranger, best known for his work in the UK in the 1960s with the Who, the Kinks and many others. Talmy arranged and produced hits such as "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks, "My Generation" by the Who, and "Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats.
