Canmore is a town in Alberta, Canada, located approximately west of Calgary near the southeast boundary of Banff National Park. It is located in the Bow Valley within Alberta's Rocky Mountains. The town shares a border with Kananaskis Country to the west and south and the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 to the north and east. With a population of 14,798 in 2020, Canmore is the ninth-largest town in Alberta. History Canmore was officially named in 1884 by Canadian Pacific Railway director Donald A. Highline National Recreation Trail
The Highline National Recreation Trail is a trail that runs below the Mogollon Rim in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The trail showcases beautiful vistas of rim canyons, brushy hills, distant mountains, unique rock formations, and wonderful stands of Ponderosa pine. The trail was established in 1870 and was used to travel between homesteads and to attend school in Pine, Arizona. Zane Grey (who had a cabin in the area) and Babe Haught used the Highline Trail while hunting, and the Zane Grey Highline Trail 50 Mile Run ultramarathon takes place on the trail. Highline Canal National Recreation Trail
The High Line Canal (HLC) is a man-made waterway, used for irrigation and recreation, that serves the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. It begins at a diversion dam on the South Platte River, some above the mouth of Waterton Canyon. The Uinta Highline Trail is a trail in the Uinta Mountains of Utah that traverses the range from east to west. The trail passes through expansive alpine landscapes dominated by metasedimentary rocks sculpted by past glaciers. The broad glacial basins are dotted by hundreds of lakes. Route The Uinta Highline Trail extends along the east–west oriented crest of the Uinta Mountains.
