Higher Institute Of Engineering
The Higher Institute of Engineering is an educational institute located in the Culture & Science City campus in 6th of October City, Egypt. History The Higher Institute for Engineering, 6 October City (HIE) was founded on 18 October 1994. It was established by the Ministerial Decree No. 1484. The Supreme Council of Universities issued degree equivalency based on decree no. (49) on 4/6/2001. Programmes The Institute grants the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in four engineering disciplines: Construction and Building Engineering (CBE); Information and Computer Engineering (ICE); Administrative Industrial Engineering (AIE); and Mecatronics Engineering (MTE). The Culture & Science City (مدينة الثقافة و العلوم) is a gathering of private higher institutes of education in Egypt, composed of ten specialized higher institutes all recognized by the Supreme Council of Egyptian universities. Its institutes contain nearly thirty scientific departments in various disciplines, including engineering, administration, and the humanities. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is one of the governmental ministries of Egypt and part of the cabinet. It was formed in 1961. History The ministry was established on 9 November 1961, when university education in Egypt became free. Between March 2011 and June 2013 the ministry had seven different ministers. Amr Ezzat Salama was one of the ministers during this period. Mostafa Mussad served as minister of higher education from August 2012 to July 2013 when Hossam Eisa replaced him in the post. The ministry was headed by El Sayed Abdel Khalek between June 2014 and September 2015. He was replaced by Ashraf El-Shihy in the post.
