High Point (Jenkinsville, South Carolina)
High Point is a historic home located near Jenkinsville, Fairfield County, South Carolina. The original section was built about 1800, and is a two-story, five-bay, frame farmhouse with later expansions. A two-story rear ell was built about 1870. It features a one-story, shed-roofed porch across the front façade supported by square posts. Also on the property are the contributing family cemetery, a frame smoke house, and a frame barn. Jenkinsville is an incorporated town in western Fairfield County, South Carolina, Fairfield County, South Carolina, United States, between the Broad River (Carolinas), Broad and the Little River (Broad River), Little rivers. It is located east of Monticello Reservoir and is near the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station. Also in the area is the Kincaid-Anderson House and quarry. The town was incorporated in 2008. Jenkinsville's population at the 2010 United States census, 2010 census was 46, making it South Carolina's second smallest town. Fairfield County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 20,948. Its county seat is Winnsboro. Fairfield County is part of the Columbia, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. History 18th century It is alleged that the county name originated from a statement made by General Cornwallis when he declared "How Fair These Fields" during the British occupation of the area in 1780–81. The house Cornwallis stayed in during the occupation is still standing. Several years before the Revolution, Richard Winn from Virginia moved to what is now called Fairfield County. His lands covered the present site of Winnsboro, and as early as 1777 the settlement was known as "Winnsborough".
