High Cumberland Jubilee
''High Cumberland Jubilee'' is the second studio album by American popular-music singer and songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was produced by Travis Turk, released in 1976 on Andy Williams's small Barnaby Records label. This was second album that Buffett recorded, and was his final album with Barnaby, signing next with Dunhill Records, Dunhill. Following lackluster sales of Buffett's first album, ''Down to Earth'', Barnaby Records would claim that the masters to ''High Cumberland Jubilee'' had been lost, hence it has been referred to as Buffett's "lost album." In 1976, after Buffett had left Barnaby and moved to Key West, released numerous additional albums, and become a star, the masters were finally found and the album released. Madacy Lifestyle Marketing (formerly Madacy Entertainment) was a company based in Mount Royal, Quebec, that published DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes. Henry "Kid" Rena (August 30, 1898 – April 25, 1949) was an American jazz trumpeter, who was an early star of the New Orleans jazz scene. Biography He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Rena may have taken lessons from Manuel Perez (musician), Manuel Perez as a youngster. He and Louis Armstrong played in the same orphanage, waif's home band, and when Armstrong joined the band on the ''S.S. Capitol'', Rena was named his replacement in Kid Ory's band in 1919. He played with Ory until 1922, when Ory moved to Los Angeles; that year Rena formed his own band. This ensemble played all the New Orleans jazz houses regularly and played Chicago in 1923–24. He led the Eureka Brass Band in the late 1920s, remaining with them until 1932, when he formed his own brass band. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. Janus Records was a record label owned by GRT Records, also known as General Recorded Tape. The label was in operation from 1969 to 1979. History Janus was founded in July 1969 as a joint venture of GRT and British label Pye Records. In its early years of operation the bulk of Janus' acts were U.S. issues of Pye product. ''Before the Salt'' is a compilation album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It includes the entire original releases of his first two albums, '' Down to Earth'' and ''High Cumberland Jubilee'' with the addition of "Richard Frost" to ''Down to Earth''. It was released on Barnaby/Janus 2 BR-6019 in 1979. The album has never been issued on compact disc but most of its songs are included on 1993's '' Before the Beach'' and all are on the CD releases of ''Down to Earth'' and ''High Cumberland Jubilee''. Critical reception William Ruhlmann of AllMusic concludes his review with, "On the whole, there are some good songs on this compilation of Buffett's early work, but the music is not characteristic of the lighter tone he eventually took, and potential customers shouldn't buy it expecting his usual style."
