Higashiyama Station (Hokkaidō)
was a railway station on the Hakodate Main Line in Mori, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). Opened in 1949, it closed in March 2017. Lines Higashiyama Station was served by the Hakodate Main Line, and was situated 40.1 km from the starting point of the line at . The station was numbered "H64". According to the timetable of March 2009, the station was served by four northbound and four southbound trains per day. Many other trains, including two northbound and one southbound local trains per day, pass through the station. History The station began operation as on February 26, 1943. On August 1, 1949, it became . On April 1, 1987, with the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR), the station came under the control of JR Hokkaido, and was promoted to become a full station. The is one of the constituent companies of the Japan Railways Group (JR Group), and is often referred to using its official abbreviation of . It operates intercity and local rail services in Hokkaido, Japan. The company introduced Kitaca, a smart card ticketing system, in autumn 2008. At the time of its privatization in 1987, JR Hokkaido operated 21 railway lines totalling of narrow-gauge () track, as well as a ferry service to Aomori. Hakodate Main Line
The is a railway line connecting the cities of Hakodate and Asahikawa via Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan. It is one of the trunk lines operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). The Sawara Line, a 35 km loop line from Ōnuma to Mori opened in 1945, is included as part of the Hakodate Main Line. The Sapporo—Minami-Otaru section was the first railway line opened in Hokkaido (including the Minami-Otaru - Temiya Line to the Otaru Port). The line was extended as the first to connect to Hakodate, though today all Sapporo—Hakodate direct passenger and freight services travel via the Chitose and Muroran lines until rejoining the Hakodate line at Oshamambe Station. Mori, Hokkaido
is a town located in Oshima Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. The total area of the town is . As of September 2016, the town had a population of 16,299, and a population density of 44 persons per km2. Mount Komagatake, an active volcano, is located to the east of Mori, and much of the town is part of Ōnuma Quasi-National Park. Mori is the home of ikameshi, a squid and rice dish invented in the mid-20th century.
