Wilfred Hickinbottom
Wilfred John Hickinbottom FRIC (1896–1979) was an English chemist. He was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham and went on to study chemistry at the University of Birmingham, graduating with first class honours in 1921. During this time he first reported what came to be known as the Reilly–Hickinbottom rearrangement. He then went on to complete a PhD under Professor G. T. Morgan. Career After completing his PhD, he was appointed as an assistant lecturer in 1924 and then promoted to lecturer in 1927 at the University of Birmingham. Hickinbottom was a reader at Queen Mary University of London (at the time named Queen Mary College) between 1947-1960 and then professor from 1960 to 1963. He later became a visiting professor at the University of Khartoum. He married the professional pianist Greta Parkinson in 1953. Hickinbottom wrote a textbook, Reactions of Organic Compounds. it was first published in 1936, with a second edition in 1945 and a third in 1957. ...

Geoffrey Hickinbottom
Geoffrey Alfred Hickinbottom (born 15 November 1932) is a former English cricketer. Hickinbottom was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Leicester, Leicestershire. Hickinbottom made his first-class debut for Leicestershire against Yorkshire in the 1959 County Championship. He made four further first-class appearances for the county in that season, the last of which came against Glamorgan. A specialist wicket-keeper, he took four catches and made three stumpings behind the stumps, while with the bat he scored six runs. Gary Hickinbottom
Sir Gary Robert Hickinbottom (born 22 December 1955), is a retired British judge. In 2008, he became the fourth solicitor to be appointed a High Court judge, after Michael Sachs in 1993, Lawrence Collins in 2000, and Henry Hodge in 2004. Legal career He was admitted as a solicitor in 1981, and later became a partner at McKenna & Co (now part of CMS Cameron McKenna). He became a recorder in 1994 and then a circuit judge in 2001. He became Chief Social Security Commissioner and Child Support Commissioner in 2003, and Chief Pension Appeal Commissioner. He has also sat as a deputy High Court judge. Judicial career Hickinbottom's appointment as a High Court judge was announced in September 2008, with his assignment to the King's Bench Division. He was knighted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace on 20 February 2009. Bolton le Moors (also known as Bolton le Moors St Peter) was a large civil parish and ecclesiastical parish in hundred of Salford in the historic county of Lancashire, England. It was administered from St Peter's Church, Bolton in the township of Great Bolton. History Bolton le Moors was originally a part of the ancient parish of Eccles. In the 14th century it became a parish in its own right. It resembled what is now the town of Bolton and some outskirts. As with many large parishes in the north of England, it was split into townships in 1662 for easier civic administration.
