Benjamin Heydon
Benjamin Heydon or Haydon (1567–1607) was the Headmaster at Winchester College from 1596 to 1601/1602, a JP for Somerset, and Dean of Wells Cathedral from 1602 until his death in 1607. Early life and family Benjamin Heydon was born in Winchester in the early autumn of 1567 to Edward (d. 1581) and Edyth Heydon (d. 1583). He was baptized in St. Swithun-upon-Kingsgate on 23 October 1567. Heydon had two older brothers, Francis and Edward, and two sisters, Martha and Mary. Benjamin spent his first ten years in Winchester with his family. When he was eleven, he entered Winchester College in 1578 and studied there until April 1586. His father, Edward, came to Winchester soon after Elizabeth I took the throne when she granted him a prebendary at Winchester Cathedral. Edward Heydon had a chequered career, and had held multiple offices under Henry VIII, Edward VI, and Mary I of England. Charles Heydon
Charles Gilbert Heydon (25 August 1845 – 1 January 1932) was an Australian politician and judge. Early life He was born in Sydney to journeyman printer Jabez King Heydon and Sophia Hayes, and his godfather was Archbishop Polding. He attended St Mary's Cathedral school and then Reverend Thomas Aitken's school at Ryde. In 1860 he started working for the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, becoming a branch manager until he resigned to study for the bar. Barrister and politician Heydon was called to the bar in 1875, building a successful practice in commercial and common law. He was a candidate for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly seat of Argyle at the 1877 election, but was defeated by 337 votes (23.4%). Sir Christopher Heydon (14 August 1561 – 1 January 1623) was an English soldier, Member of Parliament, and writer on astrology. He quarrelled with his family over its estates in Norfolk. Dyson Heydon
John Dyson Heydon (born 1 March 1943) is a former Australian judge and barrister who served on the High Court of Australia from 2003 to 2013 and the New South Wales Court of Appeal from 2000 to 2003, and previously served as Dean of the Sydney Law School. He retired from the bench at the constitutionally-mandated age of 70 and went on to chair the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption between 2014 and 2015. John Heydon (10 September 1629 – c. 1667) was an English Neoplatonist occult philosopher, Rosicrucian, astrologer and attorney. Life Rosicrucian sources, including Heydon's own ''English Physician's Guide'' and Frederick Talbot's ''The Wise Man's Crown'', give a florid biography for Heydon, including a claim to be descended from a King of Hungary. However, he was actually born in "Green Arbour" (near the Old Bailey), London, the son of Francis Heydon (of Sidmouth in Devonshire) and Mary (née Chandler, of Worcestershire). He was baptised at St. Sepulchre's Church. He had one sibling, a sister, Anne, two years his junior. Sir John Heydon (died 1653) was an English Royalist military commander and mathematician, Lieutenant-General of the Ordnance at the outbreak of the First English Civil War. Life The second son of Sir Christopher Heydon, in 1613 he was keeper of the stores in Sandown Castle, Deal, Kent. He was knighted in August 1620. In 1627 he was appointed lieutenant of the ordnance in the place of his brother Sir William, who was killed in the expedition to the Isle of Rhé. Between 1627 and 1643 Heydon was actively occupied in furnishing men, provisions, arms, guns, and ammunition for the service of the king. When Charles I raised his standard at Nottingham on 22 August 1642, Heydon was in charge of cannon and ammunition at York. Louis Francis Heydon (23 April 1848 – 17 May 1918) was a politician and solicitor in New South Wales, Australia and was Minister of Justice for six weeks 1885 to 1886. Early life Heydon was born in Sydney, New South Wales, the son of Jabez King Heydon and Sophia Hayes. He was educated at St Mary's Cathedral school and then Sydney Grammar School. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1873 and practiced in Bathurst for eight years, before returning to Sydney where he entered into a partnership with Thomas Slattery.
