James Heward (born March 30, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman, who currently serves as an associate coach for the Henderson Silver Knights. Playing career Heward was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round, 16th overall, of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. After several seasons in the Penguins organization without getting called up to the NHL, Heward became an unrestricted free agent and spent the 1994–95 season with the Canadian National Team scoring 5 assists in 8 games at the 1995 World Championships. After the World Championships ended, Heward signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on May 4, 1995. Heward spent most of the 1995–96 season with Toronto's AHL affiliate the St. John's Maple Leafs before spending 5 games with the parent club in February 1996. Dag Heward-Mills (born 14 May 1963) is an evangelist, pastor, author, and conference speaker based in Accra, Ghana. He is the founder and presiding Bishop of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC), formerly known as Lighthouse Chapel International (LCI) and the United Organization of FirstLove Churches in 190 nations (UO-FLC 190). Leslie Heward
Leslie Hays Heward (8 December 1897 – 3 May 1943) was an English conductor and composer. Between 1930 and 1942 he was the Music Director of the City of Birmingham Orchestra. Heward was born in Liversedge, Yorkshire, the son of a railway porter and organist. He showed remarkable musical promise as a child. By the age of two he was playing the piano, by the age of four he was playing the organ, and by the age of eight he was accompanying a performance of Handel's '' Messiah'' on the organ in Bradford. At 12 he was a choir boy at Manchester Cathedral, supported by the organist there, Sidney Nicholson. In 1917 he won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music. There he was one of the first pupils in Adrian Boult's conducting class, and was described by Hubert Parry as "the kind of phenomenon that appears once in a generation". Heward, Saskatchewan
Heward ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Tecumseh No. 65 and Census Division No. 1. The village is located along highway 33 in southeastern Saskatchewan. Even though it has under 50 people it still maintains a post office, rink, and hall that all service the farming community. In 1977 Prairie Trails and Tales: Heward Saskatchewan 1900-1976 was written by Muriel Dempsey. History Heward incorporated as a village on November 21, 1904. Bryce Dickey, born in Heward in 1908, wrote an extensive history of the village which is published in the summer 2007 issue of Folklore magazine. He describes how "Reverend Pike, an Englishman and a bachelor decided to build a new church and it was to be the same design and construction as one in England that had been lost to the sea due to coastal erosion." William Heward Grafftey, (August 5, 1928 – February 11, 2010) was a Canadian politician and businessman. Early life Born in Montreal, Quebec, to a wealthy family, he was a nephew of artist Prudence Heward of the Beaver Hall Group, and wrote a chapter on her in the 1996 book '' Portraits of a Life''. His father, Major Arthur Grafftey, was a First World War hero and board chairman of the Montreal Lumber Company. Grafftey received a bachelor of arts degree from Mount Allison University, majoring in political science and history, and a bachelor of civil law degree from McGill University. He was admitted to the Bar of Quebec. Ian James Heward (born 3 July 1962 in Leeds) is a British former auto racing driver. He was best known as entering the prestigious British Touring Car Championship in the mid-nineties as an under-funded driver. He started racing as a rally driver in the early 80's and switched to circuit racing with three years in the British Porsche Carrera Cup from 1987 to 1989 in a 924 and 911s. In 1990 he drove in some races in the Formula Ford 1600 and Formula Renault Championships in 90/91. He returned to racing in a Porsche 944 S2 in 1994/5 with the British Production Car Group N series dominated by the Ford Cosworth Sierra 's. Brian Heward (17 July 1935 – 21 April 2012) was an English professional footballer who made 234 appearances in the Football League playing for Scunthorpe United and Lincoln City. He played as a centre half. Life and career Heward was born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, and began his football career as a junior with Second Division club Scunthorpe United. He made his first-team debut in March 1954, and played more frequently after established centre-half Dick White joined Liverpool. Thomas Heward-Belle (born 11 March 1997) is an Australian professional association football goalkeeper who plays for Sydney FC.
