Mia Electric was a French electric car manufacturer in the 2010s. The company, based in Cerizay, France, designed and built electric vehicles made totally in France. The Mia was the company's first all-electric model on the market. The car has a electric motor with an 8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) battery pack that delivers a range of , and a maximum speed of . Production began in June 2011 and sales to the public started in 2012. Production stopped in December 2013 due to financial problems. Cerizay () is a Communes of France, commune in the Deux-Sèvres Departments of France, department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regions of France, region in western France. History The name ''Cerizay'' probably originated during the Gallo-Roman, closing centuries of the Roman occupation. During the Middle Ages the old town centre was situated beside a feudal castle. The last two towers of the castle, along with its 12th century chapel, were destroyed when the present (rather flamboyant) church was constructed in 1890. Economy The automotive coachbuilder firm Heuliez had its main production plant on the outskirts of the town. Emergency Brake Assist
Brake assist (BA or BAS) or emergency brake assist (EBA) is a term for an automobile braking technology that increases braking pressure in an emergency. The first application was developed jointly by Daimler-Benz and TRW/ LucasVarity. Research conducted in 1992 at the Mercedes-Benz driving simulator in Berlin revealed that more than 90% of drivers fail to brake with enough force when faced with an emergency. By interpreting the speed and force with which the brake pedal is pushed, the system detects if the driver is trying to execute an emergency stop, and if the brake pedal is not fully applied, the system overrides and fully applies the brakes until the anti-lock braking system (ABS) takes over to stop the wheels locking up. Heuliez was a French company that worked as a production and design unit for various automakers. It specialized in producing short series for niche markets, such as convertibles or station-wagons. The business activity ended on 31 October 2013. The company's plant and buildings have been taken over by the " Fabrique régionale du Bocage", a quasi-company which has the regional government of Poitou-Charentes as its majority shareholder. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety anti-skid braking system used on aircraft and on land vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, and buses.
