Het Klokhuis
''Het Klokhuis'' (Dutch for "The Applecore") is a daily documentary show for primary school children and young teenagers produced by ntr of the Netherlands. It first aired in 1988. It is broadcast every weekday at 18:25 on NPO 3 and lasts about 15 minutes. The subjects vary widely. Quite often, factories are visited, where a complete production process is explained. The serious parts are interspersed with sketches, which sometimes have aspects that only adults would understand, whilst still remaining funny for children. In 1990, there were plans to discontinue the show due to high costs, but after protests and questions asked in the Dutch parliament, it was decided to keep the show. NTR is a Dutch public-service broadcaster, supplying television and radio programming of an informational, educational, and cultural nature to the national public broadcasting system, Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (NPO). NPO 3
NPO 3 (''NPO drie'', formerly Nederland 3 until 2014) is the third and youngest of the terrestrial television channels operated by the Dutch public-broadcasting organization NPO in the Netherlands. It carries programmes provided by member-based non-profit broadcasting associations and is oriented towards children, youth and innovative television. History Initially the third Dutch public television channel would be a joint venture with the Flemish public broadcaster VRT (then called BRTN), which would specialize in a cooperative Netherlands/Flanders programming. With the pretended cooperation, BRT (now VRT) would either continue or terminate its second channel by operating it more lucratively.
