Heston Kjerstad
Heston Sawyer Kjerstad (born February 12, 1999) is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Kjerstad was selected second overall by the Orioles in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft. Amateur career Kjerstad grew up in Amarillo, Texas and attended Randall High School (Amarillo, Texas), Randall High School. As a junior, he batted .477 with 32 RBIs and was named the District 3-5A Most Valuable Player and first team All-State. Kjerstad was named first team All-State and District 3-5A Most Valuable Player again as a senior. He was drafted in the 36th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft by the Seattle Mariners, but opted to play college baseball at Arkansas instead. Kjerstad was a starting outfielder for the Razorbacks as a true freshman. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. Bowie Baysox
The Bowie Baysox are a Minor League Baseball team located in Bowie, Maryland. They are the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play in the Eastern League. Their home ballpark is Prince George's Stadium. History From 1989 to 1992, the Orioles' Double-A affiliate was located in Hagerstown, Maryland and called the Suns. When Major League Baseball added two teams in 1993, bids were offered for two new Triple-A franchises, and the Maryland Baseball Limited Partnership (which owned the Suns and also the Advanced-A Frederick Keys) got into the running to put one of the new franchises in central Maryland. Although their bid fell short, the idea of having a team in Bowie was so well-received that the MBLP decided to move the Double-A team across the state from Hagerstown.
