	Herøya Herøya is a peninsula in the municipality of Porsgrunn, Norway. It is located between the fjords of Frierfjord to the west and Gunneklevfjord to the east, at the River mouth, mouth of Telemarksvassdraget. The name stems from the Old Norse word "her-eyjar" meaning an island (''øya'') with a horde or army (''her''), thus "the crowded island". The peninsula features a large industrial park that was founded in 1928 in Norway, 1928 and contains major facilities of Norsk Hydro, Yara International, Yara, and Renewable Energy Corporation, REC (Scanwafer, ScanWafer subsidiary). The area is served by the Bratsberg Line. 2,700 people work on the 1.5 km² peninsula that has about 30 companies, most of which are subsidiaries of Norsk Hydro, including Hydro's research park with 350 employees. 	Herøy Church Herøy Church ( no, Herøy kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Herøy in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the town of Fosnavåg, on the island of Bergsøya. It is the church for the Herøy parish which is part of the Søre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, concrete church was built in a rectangular style in 2002 by the architects Kine Tambs and Hans Petter Madsø from an architecture firm from Trondheim. The church seats about 700 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432 where it was listed in Aslak Bolt's cadastre and there was also mention of the priest from this church in 1385. The church has a rectangular nave, a tower to the west, and a narrower choir with a semicircular apse. The choir and apse have a lower roof line than the nave. The brick church was built in a rectangular design in 1957 using plans drawn up by the architects Helge Abrahamsen and Hans Grinde. The church seats about 430 people, but can hold up to 700 people if the movable walls are changed to maximize seating in the main room.
