Herrmann-Debroux is a Brussels Metro station located in the municipality of Auderghem, serving as the eastern terminus of line 5. The station was opened in 1985. It is named after the Belgian politician and former Mayor of Auderghem, Carl Herrmann-Debroux. The Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (french: Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles or ; nl, Maatschappij voor het Intercommunaal Vervoer te Brussel or ) is the local public transport operator in Brussels, Belgium. The Brussels Metro (french: Métro de Bruxelles, nl, Brusselse metro) is a rapid transit system serving a large part of the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. It consists of four conventional metro lines and three ''premetro'' lines. The metro-grade lines are M1, M2, M5, and M6 with some shared sections, covering a total of , with 59 metro-only stations. The ''premetro'' network consists of three tram lines (T3, T4, and T7) that partly travel over underground sections that were intended to be eventually converted into metro lines. Auderghem (former Dutch spelling, now used in French; pronounced ) or Oudergem () is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region (Belgium). Located to the southeast of the region, along the Woluwe valley and at the entrance to the Sonian Forest (French: , Dutch: ), the municipality has an environmental advantage. Jan Cox (painter)
Jan Cox (27 August 1919 – 7 October 1980) was Dutch-Belgian painter who spent the largest part of his creative life in the United States and Belgium. He was born in The Hague. Life In 1945 he was a founding member of the 'Jeune Peinture Belge' group. By the end of that decade he was briefly associated the CoBrA movement, publishing some of his art in the CoBrA magazine. In 1950 he moved to New York. After a brief stay in Rome, he returned to the United States in 1956, becoming head of the Painting Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 1974 he returned to Belgium, to live in Antwerp, and devote himself exclusively to painting. Jan Cox was psychically hyper-sensitive and suffered from recurrent depression throughout his life, eventually leading to his suicide, in Antwerp, in 1980.
