Herre, Norway
Herre is a village in Bamble Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located in the northern part of the municipality on the western side of the Frierfjord. There are road connections to Skien (town), Skien/Porsgrunn (town), Porsgrunn to the northeast and to Stathelle to the southeast. Herre Church, built in 1905, is located in the village. The village has a population (2022) of 1,281 and a population density of . Herre School provides grades 1-10 education. During the 2018/19 school year, there were 156 pupils and 29 staff members, of which 15 were teachers. The school building was originally completed in 1953, but has been upgraded in recent years with a new gym. Bamble Cellulosefabrikk was a pulp mill in Herre, Bamble, Norway. It was established in 1888. Cellulose expert Henrik Christian Fredrik Størmer was behind the construction. Herre Church
Herre Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bamble Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Herre. It is one of the churches for the ''Bamble og Herre'' parish which is part of the Bamble prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1905 using plans drawn up by the architect Haldor Larsen Børve. The church seats about 275 people. History In the latter half of the 19th century, local residents of Herre began working towards getting an annex chapel built in their village, rather than having to travel to Bamble Church. After a factory opened and attracted more residents to Herre, the desire for a local chapel became possible. The factory provided land for a cemetery and chapel. is a town and the administrative centre of Porsgrunn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The town is located at the mouth of the Porsgrunn river where it joins the Frierfjorden. The town of Skien lies immediately to the north of the town of Porsgrunn. The town of Brevik lies about to the south of Porsgrunn, just north of Heistad. The European route E18 highway passes through the southern part of the town of Porsgrunn. Frierfjord
Frier or Frierfjord is a fjord in Telemark county, Norway. The long fjord is located along the Skaggerak coast in the traditional district of Grenland and it forms the border with the municipalities of Bamble, Skien, and Porsgrunn. The fjord is actually an inner arm of the Langesundsfjord, and historically (well into the 1700s) this fjord was also known as the Langesundsfjord. The fjord stretches from the opening to Langesundsfjord in the south to the mouth of the Porsgrunn River in the north. The much smaller fjord of Gunneklevfjord opens into the Porsgrunn/Skien River and is separated from Frierfjorden by the peninsula of Herøya. The Frierfjorden narrows to a width of about at Breviksstrømmen, the mouth of the fjord, where the town of Brevik sits on the northern side and the town of Stathelle lies on the southern side.
