August Karl Herold (August 7, 1902 in Neckarsulm – January 8, 1973 in Neckarsulm) was a German grape breeder. Herold graduated from the Agricultural College Hohenheim in 1925, worked at a grape breeding station in Naumburg 1926–1928 and in 1928 became the head of a grape breeding station in Weinsberg, which during his early years was called ''Württembergischen Anstalt für Rebenzüchtung und Rebenpfropfung'' and from 1947 Staatliche Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Wein- und Obstbau Weinsberg (LVWO). During the years 1941–1948 Herold was first called up for military service during World War II and then ended up as a prisoner of war of the Soviet Union. After coming home in 1948, he resumed his duties in Weinsberg and stayed on this post until retirement at the end of 1964.LVWO Weinsberg: Biografie

Jens-Peter Herold
Jens-Peter Herold (born 2 June 1965 in Neuruppin) is a retired German middle-distance runner who participated in several international championships in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In the 1987 World Championships he came sixth over 1500 metres. The following year he won a bronze medal (finishing behind Peter Rono and Peter Elliott) at the Seoul Olympics and also ran a new German record for the mile run in 3:49.22 min. which is still unbroken (as of 2019). In 1990 he won the European Championships double finishing first both indoor and outdoor over 1500 m. Herold was renowned for his finishing kick which secured him victories over potentially stronger competitors. However, in 1991 he lost an almost certain bronze medal at the World Championships in Tokyo on the finishing line. He was overtaken by his countryman Hauke Fuhlbrügge while Noureddine Morceli and Wilfred Kirochi won gold and silver. In 1992 he came sixth in the Olympic final in Barcelona. Vilhelm Christoffer Herold (born March 19, 1865, in Hasle, Bornholm – died December 15, 1937, in Copenhagen) was an operatic tenor, voice teacher, and theatre director. Herold created the role of David in Carl Nielsen's opera '' Saul og David'' in 1902). Career Herold he made his stage debut on February 10, 1893, in the title role of Gounod's '' Faust'' at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. However, he also sang throughout Europe, including a command performance for King Edward VII at Buckingham Palace in 1905. The previous year, he had made his Covent Garden debut in the title role of '' Lohengrin''. He also sang at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago.
