Heroes For Dungeonquest
''Heroes for Dungeonquest'' is a supplement published by Games Workshop (GW) in 1987 for the fantasy board game ''Dungeonquest''. Contents ''Heroes for Dungeonquest'' is the first expansion set for ''Dungeonquest'', adding twelve new heroes with new mechanics and special abilities, and a handful of additional cards and tokens. Twelve metal miniatures from Citadel Miniatures were also included in the game. This is only an expansion and is not playable on its own; the original game is required for play. Publication history GW's ''Dungeonquest'' boardgame is an English-language translation of the Swedish game ''Drakborgen'' (''Dragon Fortress'') created by Jakob Bonds and Dan Glimne, and published by Alga AB in 1985. Alga released an expansion called ''Drakborgen II'' in 1987. Games Workshop Group (often abbreviated as GW) is a British manufacturer of miniature wargames, based in Nottingham, England. ''Dungeonquest'' (sometimes known as ''Dungeon Quest'') is a fantasy adventure board game originally published in Sweden in 1985 by Alga AB as ''Drakborgen'', and subsequently published in English by Games Workshop in 1987. Description The object of this game for 1–4 players game is to enter the ruins of Dragonfire Castle at dawn when the castle's guardian dragon falls asleep, navigate a labyrinth to the dragon's hoard at the center of the castle, and exit the castle. The game ends at sunset; any characters still in the castle at that point are automatically killed by the dragon. The player who successfully escapes from the castle with the largest amount of treasure is the winner. Citadel Miniatures
Citadel Miniatures Limited is a company which produces metal, resin and plastic miniature figures for tabletop wargames such as ''Warhammer Fantasy Battle'' and ''Warhammer 40,000''. In the past Citadel Miniatures was a separate company but it has become a brand for Games Workshop miniatures. Although its models are used for the wargaming hobby, the painting of its miniatures (and miniatures in general) is a hobby in itself. Early history In 1976, Bryan Ansell co-founded Asgard Miniatures with Steven Fitzwater and Paul Sulley in Nottingham and became its lead sculptor. Ansell was an experienced sculptor, having previously worked at Conquest Miniatures. Ansell left Asgard in 1978 to form successful rival Citadel Miniatures with funding from Games Workshop. ''The Games Machine'' is a video game magazine that was published from 1987 until 1990 in the United Kingdom by Newsfield, which also published ''CRASH'', ''Zzap!64'', ''Amtix!'' and other magazines. History The magazine ran head to head with Future's recently launched ''ACE'' and EMAP's long running ''C&VG'' magazines. Unhappy with the profits from the title Newsfield decided to end the title in 1990. However Newsfield would, more or less, continue with a multi format magazine with '' Raze''. This new title would concentrate on the ever rising consoles like the Mega Drive as well as the established NES and Master System. Newsfield Publications Ltd (also known as Newsfield) was a British magazine publisher during the 1980s and early 1990s. Newsfield Publications Ltd was founded by Roger Kean, Franco Frey and Oliver Frey in 1983. Based in Ludlow, Shropshire, Newsfield published a number of popular computer game magazines from the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This line-up was later supplemented by a number of less successful magazines covering role-playing games, film, horror and youth culture. Faced with financial difficulties, the company went bankrupt towards the end of 1991. This didn't spell the immediate end for some of their magazines though.
