Hernani, Eastern Samar
Hernani, officially the Municipality of Hernani ( war, Bungto han Hernani; tl, Bayan ng Hernani), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 8,531 people. It was formerly called Nag-as, after the name of the river flowing southeast of the town center. History Hernani was founded around the year 1850 by a settler from Guiuan named Miguel Candido. Hernani, was created into a municipality by virtue of a Royal Order on January 4, 1864. On October 12, 1897, giant tidal waves struck Hernani. More than 300 people were killed, and public buildings and houses were destroyed, including the newly–built stone church. Hernani, Gipuzkoa
Hernani is a town and municipality located in the province of Gipuzkoa, Basque Autonomous Community, Spain. The town sits on the left bank of the Urumea river. It is located at a distance of 9.2 km from San Sebastián. The municipality of Hernani occupies an area of approximately 40 square kilometres and is bordered by San Sebastián, Astigarraga, Arano, Elduayen, Errenteria, Lasarte-Oria and Urnieta. From the town centre, at the foot of Mount Santa Barbara, it is possible to see a large area of the valley of Urumea. Its festivities, held between 23 and 27 June in honour of John the Baptist; and between his celebrations the popular "azeri dantza" (also celebrated in celebrations of Carnival) should be emphasized. ''Hernani'' (full title: ''Hernani, ou l'Honneur Castillan'') is a drama in rhyming alexandrines by the French romantic author Victor Hugo. The title originates from Hernani, a Spanish town in the Southern Basque Country, where Hugo's mother and her three children stopped on their way to General Hugo's place of residence. The play was given its premiere on 25 February 1830 by the Comédie-Française in Paris. Today, it is more remembered for the demonstrations which accompanied the first performance and for being the inspiration for Giuseppe Verdi's opera ''Ernani'' than it is for its own merits. Hugo had enlisted the support of fellow Romanticists such as Hector Berlioz and Théophile Gautier to combat the opposition of Classicists who recognised the play as a direct attack on their values. Hernani Azevedo Júnior (born 27 March 1994), simply known as Hernani, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Reggina, on loan from Parma. Club career Early career in Brazil Born in São Gonçalo do Sapucaí, Minas Gerais, Hernani graduated from Atlético Paranaense's youth setup. He made his senior debuts in 2013 Campeonato Paranaense. Hernâni Jorge Santos Fortes (born 20 August 1991), known simply as Hernâni, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Rio Ave F.C. as a winger. Hernâni Madruga Neves (born 2 November 1963), known simply as Hernâni, is a retired Portuguese football and beach soccer player. In the former, he played as a defensive midfielder. He amassed Primeira Liga totals of 84 games and two goals over the course of ten seasons, representing in the competition Vitória de Setúbal and Benfica. Football career Hernâni was born in Mourão, Évora District, and began his professional career with Vitória de Setúbal. In a career greatly hampered by injuries he only played one solid season as a professional, 1987–88, appearing in 23 out of 38 matches to help the club finish in eighth position and attracting the attention of Primeira Liga and European Cup runner-up S.L.
