Hermanus Koekkoek
Hermanus Koekkoek, sometimes referred to as The Elder (13 March 1815, Middelburg, Zeeland, Middelburg - 5 November 1882, Haarlem) was a Dutch painter, etcher, and graphic artist. He specialized in marine art. Life and work He was a member of the famous ; the son of Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek, and brother of the landscape painters, Barend Cornelis Koekkoek, Barend Cornelis, and Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek, Marinus Adrianus. His sons, Hermanus Koekkoek the Younger, Hermanus (the Younger), Willem Koekkoek, Willem, Johannes Hermanus Barend Koekkoek, Johannes Hermanus Barend, and , all became painters.
