Hermann Christlieb Matthäus Stein, from 1913 von Stein (13 September 1854, in Wedderstedt – 26 May 1927, in Kloster Lehnin) was a Prussian officer, General of the Artillery and Minister of War during World War I. Wedderstedt is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality Selke-Aue Selke-Aue is a municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Iron Cross
The Iron Cross (german: link=no, Eisernes Kreuz, , abbreviated EK) was a military decoration in the Kingdom of Prussia, and later in the German Empire (1871–1918) and Nazi Germany (1933–1945). King Frederick William III of Prussia established it on 17 March 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars (EK 1813). The award was backdated to the birthday (10 March) of his late wife, Queen Louise. Louise was the first person to receive this decoration (posthumously). Recommissioned Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (EK 1870), World War I (EK 1914), and World War II (EK 1939). During the 1930s and World War II, the Nazi regime superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal. Georg Von Waldersee
Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Waldersee was an Imperial German Army general in World War I. He was a nephew of Field Marshal Alfred von Waldersee. Life Waldersee was born in the Kingdom of Prussia as the son of Colonel Georg Ernest von Waldersee, who died during the Franco-Prussian War. He even had ancestors of House of Hohenzollern. He entered the Prussian Army on 14 May 1880 as a Second Lieutenant. After 8 years of service, Waldersee was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant. Later he became the chief of staff of VII Corps (German Empire), VII Corps, led by Moritz von Bissing. Later he became the commander of the 17th (1st Grand Ducal Mecklenburgian) Dragoons, 17th Dragoon Regiment. On 22 April 1912 Waldersee was promoted to Generalmajor. After the promotion he became the commander of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade. Then he became one of the Senior Quartermasters of the German General Staff as a successor of Oskar von Hutier. Adolf Wild Von Hohenborn
Heinrich Adolf Wild von Hohenborn (8 July 1860 – 25 October 1925) was an Imperial German Army officer who served as a general and Prussian Minister of War during World War I. Life During his term as minister of war, from 21 January 1915 to 29 October 1916, he was critical of Paul von Hindenburg and particularly his 'Arbeitspflichtprogramm' (forced labour program). Wild von Hohenborn promulgated the Judenzählung on 11 October 1916 but did not remain in office long enough to implement it as on 29 October he was dismissed from the High Command by Wilhelm II at Hindenburg's request. He continued to serve in the field as commander of the XVI Corps and retired on 3 November 1919 with the character of a General der Infanterie. First published in 1763 by C.W. Ettinger in Gotha in Thuringia, Germany at the ducal court of Frederick III, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, it came to be regarded as an authority in the classification of monarchies and their courts, reigning and former dynasties, princely and ducal families, and the genealogical, biographical and titulary details of Europe's highest level of aristocracy. It was published from 1785 annually by Justus Perthes Publishing House in Gotha, until 1944. The Soviets destroyed the ''Almanach de Gotha's'' archives in 1945. In 1992, the family of Justus Perthes re-established its right to use the name ''Almanach de Gotha''.
