Hermann Von Barth
Hermann von Barth (5 June 1845 – 7 December 1876) was a famous German mountaineer. Life and career Hermann von Barth was born on 5 June 1845 at Eurasburg (Oberbayern), Eurasburg Castle. He initially studied law in Munich, where he was affiliated to the Corps Franconia. As a junior lawyer he began in 1868 in Berchtesgaden to explore the still largely unconquered Berchtesgaden Alps. From 1873 he studied natural sciences and, in 1876, deranged by fever, he committed suicide whilst on a research expedition in Africa. He died on 7 December 1876 in Luanda, São Paulo de Loanda, Portuguese Angola. Von Barth is most well known for his exploration of the Karwendel mountains. In summer 1870 he climbed, alone, 88 peaks (12 for the first time, including the Birkkarspitze, Kaltwasserkarspitze, Lalidererspitze, Große Seekarspitze, Grubenkarspitze, Dreizinkenspitze, Eastern Karwendelspitze, Vogelkarspitze, Wörner (Alps), Wörner, Kuhkopf). Eurasburg
Eurasburg is a municipality in Oberbayern (Upper Bavaria). It is situated about south of the Bavarian state capital, Munich, in the county of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. Since the redistricting reforms of 1978, the municipality of Eurasburg has had an area of , which includes 52 communities. The two largest communities are Eurasburg and Beuerberg. The municipality has a population of about 4,400. History The Irings established their fiefdom in the Loisach valley. Dreitorspitze
Dreitorspitze is a large and very prominent, multi-peak mountain massif in the eastern part of the Wetterstein Mountains in southern Germany. It is divided into Partenkirchen Dreitorspitze (German: ''Partenkirchener Dreitorspitze'') at and Leutasch Dreitorspitze (German:''Leutascher Dreitorspitze'') at ; each of which has several peaks. The main peak of the List of the highest mountains in Germany#The highest mountains, fourth highest mountain massif in Germany is the Leutasch Dreitorspitze, which is also known as the Karlspitze. Grade (climbing)
In rock climbing, mountaineering, and other climbing disciplines, climbers give a grade to a climbing route or boulder problem, intended to describe concisely the difficulty and danger of climbing it. Different types of climbing (such as sport climbing, bouldering or ice climbing) each have their own grading systems, and many nationalities developed their own, distinctive grading systems. Allgäu Alps
The Allgäu Alps (german: Allgäuer Alpen) are a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps, located in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in Germany and Tyrol and Vorarlberg in Austria. The range lies directly east of Lake Constance. Character The mountain range is characterised by an unusual variety of rock formations and consequently a rich tapestry of landscapes, in particular, the steep " grass mountains" (''Grasberge'') of the Allgäu Alps with gradients of up to 70°. Its flora is amongst the most varied in the whole Alpine region and its accessibility by lifts and paths is outstanding.
