Hermann Kelly
Hermann Patrick Kelly (born 1968) is an Irish political candidate and former journalist. In September 2018 he assisted in founding the far-right Irish Freedom Party, and is now president of the party. As of late 2021, Kelly was press officer for Romanian politician Cristian Terheș. Early life and education Kelly was born on Christmas Day, 1968 and is originally from the Bogside in Derry. His father was a headmaster of a primary school in Creggan, his mother was a nurse and he has three siblings. His Secondary education was at St Columb's College, Derry. He then studied marine biology in Edinburgh before studying theology as a lay student at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. He briefly worked as a teacher in Dublin. Irish Freedom Party
The Irish Freedom Party or the Irexit Freedom To Prosper Party, sometimes referred to as IFP, or IFTPP is a minor right-wing to far-right hard Eurosceptic political party in Ireland, launched on 8 September 2018. It advocates Irish withdrawal from the European Union. The party president is Hermann Kelly, former Director of Communications for Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD). The party chairperson is architect Michael Leahy. The party has no representation at local or national level. History Formation On 3 February 2018 an 'Irexit' conference was held in the RDS in Dublin, advocating an Irish withdrawal from the European Union. It was attended by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, author and columnist John Waters and academics Anthony Coughlan and Karen Devine. Approximately 600 people attended. The ''Business Post'' (formerly ''The Sunday Business Post'') is a Sunday newspaper distributed nationally in Ireland and an online publication. It is focused mainly on business and financial issues in Ireland. Founding to Irish financial crisis ''The Sunday Business Post'' was co-founded by four people: the economist and editor Damien Kiberd, Aileen O'Toole (former editor of '' Business & Finance''), Frank Fitzgibbon (editor of ''The Sunday Times'' Ireland) and James Morrissey (spokesperson for Denis O'Brien). The ''SBP'' was previously owned by Thomas Crosbie Holdings (TCH). It was then owned by Key Capital, Paul Cooke and staff members (6% equity for staff). Irexit
Euroscepticism is a minority view in Ireland. Opinion polls held in the country between 2017 and 2022 indicated between 70% and 90% support for continued membership of the European Union (EU), and a 2021 'Eurobarometer' report indicating that 75% of poll respondents had a "positive image of the EU". Irish Eurosceptics say that the EU undermines Irish sovereignty, that it lacks democratic legitimacy, it is neoliberal and works for the benefit of the business elite and it as a threat to Irish neutrality. Some Irish Eurosceptics oppose elements of the EU and its policies and seek reform, while others seek an Irish withdrawal from the EU altogether. ''Ireland AM'' is an Irish morning television show on Virgin Media One. It airs live every weekday from 07:00 to 10:00, and weekends from 9:00 to 12:00. Gene Kerrigan is an Irish journalist and novelist who grew up in Cabra in Dublin. Magdalene Asylum
Magdalene asylums, also known as Magdalene laundries, were initially Protestant but later mostly Roman Catholic institutions that operated from the 18th to the late 20th centuries, ostensibly to house "fallen women". The term referred to female sexual promiscuity or work in prostitution, young women who became pregnant outside of marriage, or young girls and teenagers who did not have familial support. They were required to work without pay apart from meagre food provisions, while the institutions operated large commercial laundries, serving customers outside their bases. Many of these "laundries" were effectively operated as penitentiary workhouses. The strict regimes in the institutions were often more severe than those found in prisons. Kathy O'Beirne
Kathleen Elizabeth "Kathy" O'Beirne (18 October 1956 – 24 February 2019) was an Irish author, best known for a controversial memoir known as ''Kathy's Story'' in Ireland and as ''Don't Ever Tell'' elsewhere, the most successful non-fiction book published by an Irish author. The daughter of Oliver and Ann O'Beirne, she was born in Dublin. However, in her book, O'Beirne claims that she was adopted. According to journalist Hermann Kelly, O'Beirne was educated at Scoil Mhuire in Clondalkin from 1961 to 1969; in 1967, at the age of 11, she spent six weeks at St Anne's Reformatory School in Kilmacud.
