Herman Sätherberg
Karl or Carl Herman Sätherberg (May 19, 1812 in Botkyrka socken – January 9, 1897 in Stockholm) was a Swedish poet and (orthopedic) physician. Sätherberg became a medical doctor in 1843 and travelled with the corvette ''Karlskrona'' to the Mediterranean 1844–1845. The journey is described in the books ''Utflykter på hafvet'' 1-2. In 1847, he succeeded Nils Åkerman as director of the ''Orthopedic Institute'' in Stockholm, where he remained until 1879. Sätherberg was very active in the development of Physical therapy in Sweden. The theme that he was most known for in his poetry was nature, but he also wrote plays and epic poems. His poem ''Blomsterkonungen'', a homage to Carl von Linné, was widely read. Prince Gustaf of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Uppland (''Frans Gustaf Oscar'', 18 June 1827 – 24 September 1852), also known officially as Gustav, was the second son of Oscar I of Sweden and Josephine of Leuchtenberg, and the younger brother of Prince (from 1844 Crown Prince) Charles. Life During his childhood he was placed in the care of the royal governess countess Christina Ulrika Taube. He was a trained musician and under the artist's name of ''G*****'' a well known composer. In Sweden, he is remembered for having written a couple of well-known songs. His ''The Student Song'' (''Studentsången'') is traditionally sung at the graduation festivities for gymnasium students, and his ''Spring Song'' (''Vårsång'') is often performed by men's choruses on Walpurgis night. Swedish ( ) is a North Germanic language spoken predominantly in Sweden and in parts of Finland. It has at least 10 million native speakers, the fourth most spoken Germanic language and the first among any other of its type in the Nordic countries overall. Oscar I Of Sweden
Oscar I (born Joseph François Oscar Bernadotte; 4 July 1799 – 8 July 1859) was King of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 until his death. He was the second monarch of the House of Bernadotte. The only child of King Charles XIV John, Oscar inherited the thrones upon the death of his father. Throughout his reign he would pursue a liberal course in politics in contrast to Charles XIV John, instituting reforms and improving ties between Sweden and Norway. In an address to him in 1857, the Riksdag declared that he had promoted the material prosperity of the kingdom more than any of his predecessors. Botkyrka Socken
Botkyrka Municipality ( ) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, not far from the capital Stockholm. Its seat is located in the town of Tumba. In 1971 ''Grödinge'' was merged with Botkyrka and in 1974 ''Salem'' was added. The Salem part was split off again in 1983, and a new Salem Municipality was formed. Botkyrka has an estimated population of 91,925. History The municipality is named after Saint Botvid, a Christian missionary during the 12th century. Saint Botvid is shown on the seal and coat of arms of Botkyrka Municipality, where he carries an axe and a fish. Another remnant of Botkyrka's Christian medieval history is the Botkyrka church, made of stone.
