Heretic (band)
Heretic is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles. Beginning in 1984, the group's initial career saw two releases on Metal Blade Records and touring alongside noted heavy metal groups. After their 1988 breakup, singer Mike Howe joined Metal Church while other members founded Reverend. Guitarist Brian Korban and earlier vocalist Julian Mendez reformed Heretic in 2011. The band released their second full-length album the following year. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City. History The label was launched in 1980 in the Netherlands. Roadrunner's initial business was importing North American metal-band recordings into Europe. Metal Blade Records is an American independent record label founded by Brian Slagel in 1982. The US office for Metal Blade is located in Agoura Hills, California. It also has offices in Germany, Japan, Canada, and the UK. The label is distributed in the US by RED Distribution, and in Canada by Sony Music Entertainment. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Records in the United States from 1988 to 1993. Anthrax (American Band)
Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the "Big Four" of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They were also one of the first thrash metal bands (along with Overkill and Nuclear Assault) to emerge from the East Coast. The band has released 11 studio albums, several other albums, and 26 singles, including collaborating on a single with American hip hop group Public Enemy. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Anthrax sold 2.5 million records in the United States from 1991 to 2004, with worldwide sales of 10 million. David Wayne (singer)
David Wayne (January 1, 1958 – May 10, 2005) was an American singer of the heavy metal bands Metal Church, Reverend and Wayne. Biography From 1982 to 1988, Wayne appeared as vocalist on three studio albums and one live album by Metal Church. He was influenced by singers like Rob Halford and has influenced singers like James Hetfield. When he left Metal Church 1988, Wayne formed Reverend, which remained active even after his death. His legacy as a vocalist is captured in Metal Church's only live album, ''Live'', recorded in 1986 in Texas while on tour with Anthrax. He also started a band called Wayne (or David Wayne's Metal Church) after leaving Metal Church and joined ex-Cradle of Filth guitarist Stuart Anstis in Bastardsun.
