Herenthout
Herenthout () is a municipality located in the province of Antwerp in Belgium. The municipality only comprises the town of Herenthout proper, including Uilenberg. In 2021, Herenthout had a total population of 9,185 people. The total area is 23.55 km². This village is also well known for having the officially recognized oldest organized carnival parade in Belgium, with the first edition dating back to February 1882. Jürgen Raeymaeckers (born 3 May 1985) is a Belgian football striker who currently plays for K. Lyra T.S.V. in the lower leagues of Belgian football. Before he played with both Lierse and Roeselare in the Belgian Pro League. Career The winger/forward began his professional career with Lierse in 2004, scoring two times in 45 matches, before moving to Roeselare in 2006. As he did not get into the first team there, he left in 2007 to Belgian Second Division team OH Leuven. He left Leuven already few months later and moved to Sint-Niklaas in the Belgian Third Division. At Sint-Niklaas he was a regular, playing 52 matches in total. Wim Vandekeybus
Wim Vandekeybus (Herenthout, 30 June 1963) is a Belgian choreographer, director and photographer. His company Ultima Vez is located in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek (Brussels). Together with Jan Fabre, Alain Platel and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Wim Vandekeybus has been responsible for the Flemish Wave in contemporary dance in the 80's. He made over thirty international dance and theater productions and almost as many movies and video works. Breakthrough After graduating high school, he briefly studied Psychology in KU Leuven in Leuven, Belgium. But later on, however, he decided to pursue a different path. After a workshop with Paul Peyskens he came in contact with theater. He followed through with various dance workshops (including tango and contemporary dance) and focused on film and photography. Heist-op-den-Berg () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Nijlen () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of , Kessel and Nijlen proper. In 2021, Nijlen had a total population of 22,985. The total area is 39.09 km2. History In 1770, a hoard of golden coins dating from Julius Caesar to Titus Flavius Domitianus was discovered. Nijlen was first mentioned in 1146 as having possessions of Tongerlo Abbey. The village was damaged during the Reformation and nearly depopulated. In the 18th century, there was a population increase which accelerated after the railway station on the line from Antwerp to Herentals opened in 1853.
