Herculoids
''The Herculoids'' is an American Saturday-morning animated-cartoon television series, created and designed by Alex Toth, that was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show debuted on September 9, 1967, on CBS. Hanna-Barbera produced one season for the original airing of the show, although the original 18 episodes were rerun during the 1968–69 television season, with ''The Herculoids'' ending its run on September 6, 1969. Eleven new episodes were produced in 1981 as part of the ''Space Stars'' show. The plotlines are rooted in science fiction and fantasy. Plot On the planet Amzot (renamed Quasar in the revival), the space barbarian family Zandor, Tara and son Dorno fight alongside their giant pets the Herculoids—laser dragon Zok, space rhinoceros Tundro, rock ape Igoo and the shape-shifting Gloop and his son Gleep—to keep their planet safe from invading robots, mad scientists and mutants. Space Stars
''Space Stars'' is a 60-minute Saturday morning animated program block produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on NBC from September 12, 1981, to January 8, 1982. ''Space Stars'' was narrated by Keene Curtis and featured five cartoon segments each week: * ''Space Ghost'' (2 segments, 6 minutes each) * ''The Herculoids'' (1 segment, 10 minutes) * ''Teen Force'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) * ''Astro and the Space Mutts'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) * ''Space Stars Finale'' (1 segment, 7 minutes) The cartoons would occasionally cross over into one another. Alex Toth
Alexander Toth (June 25, 1928 – May 27, 2006) was an American cartoonist active from the 1940s through the 1980s. Toth's work began in the American comic book industry, but he is also known for his animation designs for Hanna-Barbera throughout the 1960s and 1970s. His work included ''Super Friends'', ''Fantastic Four (1967 TV series), Fantastic Four'', ''Space Ghost (TV series), Space Ghost'', ''Sealab 2020'', ''The Herculoids'' and ''Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, Birdman''. Mike Road
Mike Road (born Milton Brustin;The Boston Advertiser, June 29, 1958 March 18, 1918 – April 14, 2013) was an American voice actor and Warner Bros. television series contract player whose television career dates back to the 1950s and in films to the 1940s. Biography Road was born in Malden in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He got his start as an actor in school plays while in Malden High School, which led to him joining a theatre troupe in Boston. Sparky Marcus (born Marcus Issoglio; December 6, 1967) is an American former actor. Early life Marcus was born in Hollywood, California. Lava is molten or partially molten rock (magma) that has been expelled from the interior of a terrestrial planet (such as Earth) or a moon onto its surface. An anthology series is a radio, television, video game or film series that spans different genres and presents a different story and a different set of characters in each different episode, season, segment, or short.
