Herbert Meitner
Herbert Meitner ( he, הרברט מייטנר; born 1913) was an Israeli Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward for Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C., Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Rishon LeZion F.C., Hapoel Rishon at club level, and the Mandatory Palestine national football team, Mandatory Palestine national team internationally. Meitner took part in Mandatory Palestine's 1940 Mandatory Palestine v Lebanon football match, last international match against Lebanon national football team, Lebanon in 1940, scoring one goal; it was his only international cap. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans.
