Herbert Archer (H.A.) Richardson
Herbert Archer "H.A." Richardson (February 1852 – 19 April 1942) was a timber baron, shipping magnate, and pioneer of Sonoma County, California. Biography Richardson was born in Lisbon, New Hampshire. He arrived in Stewarts Point, the first week of April 1876, with his new bride and some pocket change. His storied career in the Timber and Shipping industries, hailed him the "Tie King of the Coast", amassing extensive holdings including lumber mills, timber camps, the Richardson company shipping line, and the Stewarts Point Store and inn. His brother, Harvey G Richardson, also came west to find success in the timber industry. Stewarts Point Richardson bought the Stewarts Point property in 1881. The property supported his family's business venture, allowing them to ship their timber from the chutes in Fisherman's Bay. Lisbon, New Hampshire
Lisbon is a town in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,621 at the 2020 census. Lisbon hosts an annual lilac festival on Memorial Day weekend. The main village, where 965 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Lisbon census-designated place (CDP) and is located along U.S. Route 302 and the Ammonoosuc River in the southwestern corner of the town. History Lisbon was first granted in 1763 by colonial Governor Benning Wentworth as "Concord". In 1764 the town was renamed "Chiswick", after the Duke of Devonshire's castle, while Rumford in central New Hampshire took the name "Concord" in 1765. In 1768, the town was settled and renamed again, this time to "Gunthwaite", after a relation of colonial Governor John Wentworth. Stewarts Point, California
Stewarts Point is an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, California, United States and part of the "historic" Salt Point Township. Stewarts Point is located on the Pacific coast and California State Route 1, west of Healdsburg. Stewarts Point was originally part of the German Rancho, and was purchased by William Bihler in 1852. The unincorporated area is named for the first residents, the Stewart family, who moved to the area in 1856. In the official history for the United States Post Office, the name was said to have been given by Lt. Col. S. Stewart in 1888, however newspaper archives refer to the area as Stewarts Point as early as 1867. Stewarts Point and the adjacent Fisherman Bay have a long and important history to the indigenous Pomo people, Kashia Band of Pomo Indians of the Stewarts Point Rancheria who have lived in the area for millennia. Grace Belle Richardson Butterfield (10 March 1879 – 26 July 1962) was the daughter of Timber Baron and Shipping Magnate, Herbert Archer Richardson. She held numerous offices in local and state General Federation of Women's Clubs, and was the California Worthy Grand Matron of the Eastern Star. Biography Born Grace Belle Richardson in Stewart's Point, California, to Timber Baron and Shipping Magnate, Herbert Archer Richardson, and Althea Ella Ball, who were married in Lisbon, New Hampshire, prior to their arrival in California in 1876. Grace was the first of three children, her siblings were Archer Herbert Richardson and Fontaine Harold Richardson.
