John Herbers
John N. Herbers (November 4, 1923 – March 17, 2017) was an American journalist, author, editor, World War II veteran, and Pulitzer Prize finalist. Early life After graduating from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Tennessee in 1941, Herbers served as a combat infantryman in the Pacific during World War II from 1941–1944. After the war, he was studied at Emory University, graduating in 1949. Career Local and Regional Reporting Herbers began his career at ''Morning Star'' in Greenwood, Mississippi, (1949–1950) and ''Daily News'' in Jackson, Mississippi (1951–1952). In 1951, he submitted news stories from the trial and execution of Willie McGee, an African-American from Laurel, Mississippi, who was accused and convicted of raping a white woman, though McGee claimed that their relationship was consensual. Fabian Herbers (born 17 August 1993) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire. Club career Early career Prior to playing in the United States, Herbers competed for both FC Twente, SC Preußen Münster and VfL Rhede at youth level. He then went to play three years of college soccer in the United States at Creighton University between 2013 and 2015 before signing a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer. Ian Herbers
Ian Herbers (born July 18, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman, and former assistant coach for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. Draft Herbers was drafted in the tenth round, 190th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Career Herbers played four seasons in the Western Hockey League where he was coached by Graham James and played with Joe Sakic. This was followed by four seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, where he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and won the national championship in 1992. He made his pro debut with the Cape Breton Oilers, with whom he won the Calder Cup of the American Hockey League in the 1992–93 season. He made it to the NHL in the 1993–94 season, appearing in 22 games with the Edmonton Oilers. Herbers would not find his way to the NHL again until the 1999–2000 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
