Sir Henry Webb, 1st Baronet
Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Henry Webb, 1st Baronet, JP (28 July 1866, Hereford – 29 October 1940, Caerleon) was a British Liberal Party politician who was Member of Parliament (MP) for Forest of Dean (1911–1918) and Cardiff East (1923–1924), and as Junior Lord of the Treasury (1912–1915). Biography Educated at Lausanne and Paris, known as "Harry", he trained as a mining engineer and became a director of several South Wales collieries. He was High Sheriff of Monmouthshire for 1921 and a JP in three counties. During World War I, he raised and commanded the 13th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment and the 13th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. He also commanded the 23rd (Works) Battalion, the King's Regiment (Liverpool) and the Western Command Labour Centre. Baronet On 28 January 1916, he was made a baronet, of Llwynarthen, Monmouth. Henry J
The Henry J is an American automobile built by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation and named after its chairman, Henry J. Kaiser. Production of six-cylinder models began in their Willow Run factory in Michigan on July 1950, and four-cylinder production started shortly after Labor Day, 1950. The official public introduction was on September 28, 1950. The car was marketed through 1954. Development The Henry J was the idea of Henry J. Kaiser, who sought to increase sales of his Kaiser automotive line by adding a car that could be built inexpensively and thus affordable for the average American in the same vein that Henry Ford produced the Model T. The goal was to attract "less affluent buyers who could only afford a used car" and the attempt became a pioneering American compact car. Henry Richard Webb JP FRMS (1829 – 11 February 1901) was a New Zealand businessman and politician. He represented Lyttelton in Parliament for 2½ years and was a supporter of education in his later years. Born in Australia, he came to Canterbury in 1868. Early life Australia Webb was born in Sydney in 1829. His parents had arrived there on the ship ''Eliza'' in the previous year. He was educated at Sydney College. From an early age, he worked in the office of a business. Later on, he headed the merchant firm of Messrs Ferguson, Webb and Co. In 1851, he visited Auckland. He was married to Ann Vaile by special licence on 27 October 1853, at St. Paul's Church, Auckland, New Zealand by the Rev. T. F. Lloyd, M.A. She was the second daughter of the architect George Vaile. Henry Gaylon Matthew Webb (born May 21, 1950) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1972 to 1977 for the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers. Webb was the losing pitcher in the longest game played to a decision in National League history. On September 11, 1974, Webb pitched the 25th inning of the Mets' loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Webb was charged with the only error of his major league career when his wild pickoff throw allowed Bake McBride to score all the way from first base to give St. Louis the victory. It was the first decision of Webb's major league career. Webb pitched a seven inning, 1–0 no hit victory for the Tidewater Tides of the International League on June 7, 1974. Henry Webbe was a 14th-century English politician. Webbe was a Member of Parliament for Devizes, Wiltshire in 1385 and January 1397. The first mention of Webbe is in 1379, when he paid 1s towards the poll tax in Devizes. In June 1380, he was appointed one of the three deputies of the royal alnager Alnage, or aulnage (from Old French ''aune'', ell; parallel to " yardage") was the official supervision of the shape and quality of manufactured woolen cloth. Origins The alnage was first ordered in 1196, during the reign of Richard I, that "wool ... of cloth, MP William Hervy. The last mention of him was in 1407, when he stood surety for Simon Skinner at Parliament. There is a mention of a Henry Webbe 'of Wiltshire' in 1412, who was owed money by John Prentys, and this may have been him.
