Falk & Company Warehouse
Customs House and former Falk & Company Warehouse is an historic three-storey brick building located in , Western Australia. The building has a number of prominent ornate façades on Phillimore Street between Henry and Pakenham Streets. It houses the Fremantle regional office of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, Centrelink, and a number of other Australian Government offices. Orient Hotel (Fremantle)
The Orient Hotel is on the corner of High and Henry Streets in Fremantle, and was designed by Michael Cavanagh. Built by Atkin and Law in 1902/03, the building was owned by Thomas O'Beirne. Since it was built it has continued to be a hotel though it has had a number of proprietors including the Parry family from 1923 to 1971. Bateman Hardware
Bateman Hardware was the earliest hardware shop established in Western Australia (and the second-oldest commercial enterprise of any sort), and until its demise in the 1980s was the longest-running. The business was founded by John Bateman in 1834 on property that he bought in the second round of land sales in the nascent Swan River Colony. This land on Henry Street was to be the home of J. & W. Bateman Ltd. for the next 150 years. Initially it was a shipping and warehousing business (including lighterage and river transport), and 1840 is given (in a 1951 company prospectus) as the "early start of trading, with the help of his young sons, John and Walter". The first item had been sold in 1834, a grindstone possibly belonging to "the implements valued at £55" that Bateman brought to the colony on board . W D Moore & Co Warehouse
WD Moore & Co Warehouse complex is on Henry Street, Fremantle. It was unified in 1899 behind an ornamental stucco facade. A store was established on the site by Samuel Moore in the 1840s. William Dalgety Moore later established a general merchant business there in 1862. The complex comprises a residence, warehouse, factory stable, offices and shop, built between 1862 and 1899, in addition to a three-storey backstore which was built at an unknown date, possibly as early as 1844. The complex was listed on the Register of the National Estate in 1978. The business had a wide variety of activities including importing, processing, manufacturing and retail, with mail order distribution as well. Marich Buildings, Fremantle
The Marich Buildings is a single two-storey building at the corner of Henry Street, Fremantle, Henry and High Street, Fremantle, High Streets in Fremantle, Western Australia, and dates from c1897; there were several single-storey shops on the site including one occupied by butchers Henry Albert & Co. The earliest building recorded on this site is the Royal Hotel in 1844. Prior to 1884 there was a single-storey stone shop/residence on High Street frontage; there was also a stone building of similar vintage constructed fronting onto Henry Street. The site was redeveloped with shops and rooms at the ground floor level and offices on the first floor. The two-storey building is constructed of stone and the upper floor has arched stucco architraves around the windows, stuccoed pilasters and a balustrade parapet. Fremantle Customs House
The Old Customs House is a building in Fremantle, Western Australia that was built in 1908 to house the main branch of the Customs Department of Western Australia. It is one of only a handful of extant Customs Houses in the state; others are in Albany, Broome, Cossack, and Geraldton. History It was built on the corner of Cliff Street and Phillimore Streets on the site of the old railway station, a location selected by William Lyne (and recommended by the Fremantle Citizens League). Fowler's Warehouse, also known as the Fremantle Furniture Factory, was constructed in 1900 as the principal premises in Western Australia for D. & J. Fowler Ltd. Principally on Henry Street in Fremantle, the building extends through to Pakenham Street, and comprises offices, warehouse, engine room packing and coffee roasting house, stables and sheds.
