Henry Palmer (Australian Politician)
Henry Palmer (September 1821 - 19 July 1916) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Palmer was born at Birr, King's County, Ireland. After he arrived in Australia he took up pastoral pursuits in Victoria and became a drover in Queensland. In 1856 he established a store and then was a director of the Maryborough Sugar Company. Palmer was married to Hannah Foster and together had three sons and three daughters. Palmer died in July 1916 and his funeral proceeded from his former residence in Kent Street to the Maryborough Cemetery. Palmer's younger brother John Palmer was the first mayor of Rockhampton. Their brother Richard Palmer had established the first general merchant store in Rockhampton in 1856, which John Palmer ultimately took over in 1858. The ''Fraser Coast Chronicle'' is an online newspaper serving the Fraser Coast area in Queensland, Australia. It was started as the Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser. History Charles Hardie Buzacott first published the ''Maryborough Chronicle, Wide Bay and Burnett Advertiser'' in Maryborough as a four-page tabloid, in his slab hut in Lennox Street in November 1860. It sold for sixpence and was read from Gayndah in the west and Childers in the north to Gympie in the south. In 1863, Buzacott sold his interests to William Swain Roberts and Joseph Robinson, who set out to "reflect the community's wants and opinions while boldly and distinctly enunciating our own views". As the rough river town turned into a respectable city, its newspaper became a bi-weekly in 1864, a tri-weekly in 1868 and a daily in 1882. Richard Bingham Sheridan
Richard Bingham Sheridan (1 August 1822 – 8 June 1897), was a Queensland public servant, liberal-oriented Member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland and government minister (minister without portfolio 1883–85 and later Post Master General in 1885). Early life Sheridan was born at Castlebar, County Mayo Ireland, the son of Henry S. Sheridan and his wife Margaret, ''née'' Martin. He arrived in New South Wales in 1842 and was initially employed near Twofold Bay, where he had the experience of being, on his own account, 'one of the first white men ever seen among the wild tribes'. Subsequently, he was until 1844 employed as a property manager for Captain William Oldrey of Broulee. He married on 18 November 1845, in Sydney, to Adele Eulalie Masse, a native of Mauritius. Berkeley Basil Moreton, 4th Earl of Ducie (18 July 1834 – 7 August 1924), was a British peer and a politician and pastoralist in Australia. He was a Member of both the Queensland Legislative Assembly and the Queensland Legislative Council. Early life Berkeley Basil Moreton was born on 18 July 1834 at Woodchester, Gloucestershire, England, the son of Henry Reynolds-Moreton, 2nd Earl of Ducie and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Lord Sherborne.
