Henry Musgrove
Henry Musgrove was a politician in Mississippi during the Reconstruction era. He served as the Mississippi state auditor from 1869 until 1874, and as the Secretary of State of Mississippi in 1869. He ran on the Republican ticket with officials including James L. Alcorn who was elected governor. He moved to Mississippi in 1866 from Indiana. He was involved in controversial issuance of currency. A northerner, he took part in fusionist tax protests after his time in office. Adelbert Ames
Adelbert Ames (October 31, 1835 – April 13, 1933) was an American sailor, soldier, and politician who served with distinction as a Union Army general during the American Civil War. A Radical Republican, he was military governor, U.S. Senator, and civilian governor in Reconstruction-era Mississippi. In 1898, he served as a United States Army general during the Spanish–American War. He was the last Republican to serve as the state governor of Mississippi until the election of Kirk Fordice, who took office in January 1992, 116 years after Ames vacated the office. Ames was the penultimate general officer of the Civil War to die. He succumbed at the age of 97 in 1933. He was outlived in this respect only by Aaron Daggett, who died in 1938 at the age of 100. Alexander Warner
Alexander Warner (January 10, 1827 – September 6, 1914) was an American Union Army officer, banker, planter, and Republican politician. He was the 15th Secretary of State of Mississippi, the 44th State Treasurer of Connecticut, and a member of the Kansas House of Representatives. Biography Alexander Warner was born on January 10, 1827, in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He was the son of Thomas Warner and Amy (Collins) Warner. His family moved to Woodstock, Connecticut, in 1834. He attended Woodstock Academy in Woodstock and Wesleyan Academy in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. He then worked as a cotton twine manufacturer, owning and managing a cotton twine manufacturing factory. Military career Warner was one of the first people to enlist in the American Civil War. He was appointed major of the 3rd Infantry of Connecticut Volunteers on May 14, 1861.
