Henry Mitchell (c.1320-1384) was an Irish judge of the fourteenth century. Henry Mitchell (1784January 12, 1856) was an American physician and politician who served one term as a United States representative from New York. Biography He was the son of John Mitchell and Elizabeth Sherman (daughter of Rev. Josiah Sherman and Martha Minott); she was the niece of founding father Roger Sherman and the sister of Roger Minott Sherman. Mitchell was born in Woodbury, Connecticut in 1784. He pursued classical studies under private tutors and graduated from the medical department of Yale College in 1804. He engaged in the practice of medicine in Norwich, New York. Henry Mitchell (c. 1837–1913) was the founder of Mitchell's Brewery which evolved to become Mitchells & Butlers. Career Mitchell took over the running of the Crown Inn in Smethwick from his father in 1861. Using the profits from the Inn, he built the Crown Brewery in 1866. Following the success of the Crown Brewery, he built the Cape Hill Brewery in 1872. Captain Henry Mitchell Jr. (1862–1894) was managing director of a brewery company co-founded by his father Henry Mitchell. He was also superintendent of the fire brigade at the company's Cape Hill brewery, and a captain in the Smethwick Rifle Volunteers. He founded a brewery football team, Mitchells St George's, later Birmingham St George's F.C. Harry was born on 11 September 1862, in Smethwick (then part of Staffordshire), and died from typhoid at the age of just 32. Sir Henry Mitchell (1824 – 27 April 1898) was a Bradford millowner. He was born in Esholt, Bradford to manufacturer Matthew Mitchell and started work at 14 years of age in his father's mill. In 1841 he joined William Fison and Co and seven years later moved to A&S Henry and Co as a buyer, becoming a partner in 1852. By that time he was a leading authority on the worsted trade and influential in Bradford politics. He was a philanthropist and governor of the Bradford School Board and Grammar School and Vice President of the Bradford’s Mechanic Institute. He was a Justice of the Peace and elected Mayor of Bradford in 1874.
