Henry Lloyd (February 21, 1852 – December 30, 1920) was the 40th Governor of Maryland in the United States from 1885 to 1888. He was born in 1852 in Dorchester County, Maryland and died in 1920 in Cambridge, Maryland. He was a grandson of Maryland Governor Edward Lloyd. Early life Henry Lloyd was born in Dorchester County, Maryland on February 21, 1852, the son of Daniel Lloyd and Kitty Henry Lloyd. He was descended from Edward Lloyd, who had served as Colonial Governor in 1709, and from Edward Lloyd V, the Governor in 1809. He was a descendant on his mother's side of John Henry, the first United States Senator from the Eastern Shore and Governor between 1797 and 1798. He graduated from Cambridge Academy in 1871, then began his career by teaching school. Henry Humphrey Evans Lloyd (c.1718 – 19 June 1783) was a Welsh army officer and military writer. He fought for the French against the Austrians, the Jacobite forces of Charles Stuart against the British, the Austrians against the Prussians and the Prussians against the Austrians (during the same war), and the Russians against the Turks. He also undertook various diplomatic missions for Britain. His writings on military theory were studied by George Washington and George S. Patton, and were used by J. F. C. Fuller to espouse a science of war. Henry Demarest Lloyd (May 1, 1847 – September 28, 1903) was a 19th-century American progressive political activist and pioneer muckraking journalist. He is best remembered for his exposés of the Standard Oil Company, which were written before Ida M. Tarbell's series for ''McClure's Magazine''. Biography Early years Henry Demarest Lloyd was born on May 1, 1847, in the home of his maternal grandfather on Sixth Avenue in New York City. Henry was the first child of Aaron Lloyd, a graduate of Rutgers College and New Brunswick Theological Seminary and minister of the Dutch Reformed Church, and Maria Christie ( Demarest) Lloyd. The Henry J is an American automobile built by the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation and named after its chairman, Henry J. Kaiser. Production of six-cylinder models began in their Willow Run factory in Michigan on July 1950, and four-cylinder production started shortly after Labor Day, 1950. The official public introduction was on September 28, 1950. The car was marketed through 1954. Development The Henry J was the idea of Henry J. Kaiser, who sought to increase sales of his Kaiser automotive line by adding a car that could be built inexpensively and thus affordable for the average American in the same vein that Henry Ford produced the Model T. The goal was to attract "less affluent buyers who could only afford a used car" and the attempt became a pioneering American compact car. Henry Lloyd (priest)
Henry Morgan Lloyd Distinguished Service Order, DSO Order of the British Empire, OBE (9 June 1911 – 16 April 2001) was an Anglican priest in the second half of the 20th century. He was born into an ecclesiastical family, his father being the Revd David Lloyd, sometime Vicar of Weston-super-Mare and educated at Canford School and Oriel College, Oxford. Ordained in 1935 he was a curate at Hendon. He then served his country during World War II as a chaplain in the RNVR. Henri Lloyd is a British clothing brand that specialised in sailing apparel and fashion for men and women. Established in Manchester in 1963, the company had 40 stores spanning the UK, Australia, the Middle East, and Europe. In June 2018, the brand, stock and 5 stores were acquired by Swedish investment firm, Aligro Group. Subsequently, the brand underwent a redesign and refocused on European sailors. History Henri-Lloyd Limited was founded in 1963 in Manchester by Henri Strzelecki, a Polish soldier who moved to Manchester to study textiles during the war, alongside his partner Angus Lloyd.
