Henry J. Knauf
Henry Joseph Knauf known as "Heinie" (February 15, 1891 – April 16, 1950) was an American politician and businessman. Born in Hall Township, Bureau County, Illinois, Knauf lived in Ladd, Illinois and worked in the hardware and implement business. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1935 until his death in 1950 and was a Democrat. Knauf was also the owner of Siskiyou Farm that raised horses and was President of the United States Trotting Association. Knauf was in Des Moines, Iowa Des Moines () is the capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is also the county seat of Polk County. Ladd, Illinois
Ladd is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,236 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Ottawa Micropolitan Statistical Area. Ladd is most known for Rip's Tavern (which serves about 1,200 orders of fried chicken on a busy night), and for a Vietnam War tank located in the center of its park. History The settlement was originally named Osgood after the manager of the Whitebreast Fuel Company. The Whitebreast Fuel Company, based in Ottumwa, Iowa was the major coal supplier for the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad. They set up the town in 1888. Ladd was incorporated on June 7, 1890, and was founded by George D. Ladd, a resident of Peru, Illinois. Ladd was originally named Laddville. The Ladd mine went bankrupt in 1901 and was purchased by the Illinois Third Vein Coal Company, owned by Samuel Dalzell of Spring Valley.
