Henry J. Fowler
Henry John Fowler Sr. (1909July 23, 1989) was a businessman and politician from Mechanicsville, Maryland who served as a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1950 to 1971. Fowler was a president of the Maryland Jousting Tournament Association, and as a state delegate, wrote successful legislation to make jousting the official state sport of Maryland. There is no known connection to another Henry Fowler, who also served as a Democratic delegate from St. Mary's County from 1834 to 1836 before moving to Wisconsin Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Mechanicsville, Maryland
Mechanicsville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. It is adjacent to the community of Charlotte Hall, which is known for its agriculture, Amish population, large farmers' market/flea market and the Maryland Veterans Home. Mechanicsville has many small businesses and restaurants along Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 235. The community is served by the St. Mary's County Public Schools, including Chopticon High School. At the 2010 census, Mechanicsville had a population of 1,528.https://www.census.gov The Amish community in the Mechanicsville area consists of eight church districts and approximately 1,000 people. The Amish first came to the area in 1940. There is also an Old Order Mennonite community in the Mechanisville area. In recent years, increasing development has threatened the Amish community.

Henry Fowler (1799 - ?) was a farmer and local politician who served as a member of both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Wisconsin State Assembly during terms ranging from 1834 to 1872. Biography Fowler was born on September 9, 1799 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. He later settled in the Town of Milwaukee in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin and was a farmer by trade. Political career Fowler was a member of the House of Delegates for St. Mary's County from 1834 to 1836 and was also a member of the St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners. He would serve in the Wisconsin Assembly during the 1865, 1867 and 1872 sessions.
