Henry Horne (Australian Politician)
Henry Edwin Horne (8 September 1872 – 14 July 1955) was an Australian politician. He was born in Bibbenluke to pioneer William John Horne and Anne Louise Wilson. He attended the local public school and from 1887 to 1889 was student teacher at Bombala. He taught at Coolah Bridge from 1890 to 1899, when he resigned to farm a property at Leadville. In 1896 he married Isabell Cameron, with whom he had four children. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in 1907 as the Labor member for Liverpool Plains. He served until 1911, when he resigned from parliament and the party in protest at Lands Minister Niels Nielsen's attempt to outlaw the conversion of leasehold land to freehold. Bibbenluke, New South Wales
Bibbenluke is a village in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council in southern New South Wales, Australia. The village is located at a crossing point of the Monaro Highway and Bombala River. The name is derived from a local Aboriginal word either meaning "Big Lookout" or "Place of Birds". History In 1833, notable pastoralist Joshua John Moore established a sheep grazing property named "Bibbenluke", and from this property a number of other stations in the area were also managed. The significance of Bibbenluke grew throughout the 19th Century, helped somewhat by an association with another pioneer, Scottish-born Benjamin Boyd. Boyd established the port of Boydtown near the town of Eden east of the Monaro in 1843 to support pastoral activities on his properties in the region. A school was established to serve the growing community around the station in 1871, and by 1884 significant commerce and industry had developed, with 3 carpenters, a stonemason, a blacksmith, a hotel and at least ...

Nationalist Party Of Australia
The Nationalist Party, also known as the National Party, was an Australian political party. It was formed on 17 February 1917 from a merger between the Commonwealth Liberal Party and the National Labor Party, the latter formed by Prime Minister Billy Hughes and his supporters after the 1916 Labor Party split over World War I conscription. The Nationalist Party was in government (from 1923 in coalition with the Country Party) until electoral defeat in 1929. From that time it was the main opposition to the Labor Party until it merged with pro-Joseph Lyons Labor defectors to form the United Australia Party (UAP) in 1931. The party is a direct ancestor of the Liberal Party of Australia, the main centre-right party in Australia. History In October 1915 the Australian Prime Minister, Andrew Fisher of the Australian Labor Party, retired; Billy Hughes was chosen unanimously by the Labor caucus to succeed him. Hughes was a strong supporter of Australia's participation in World War ...

Nationalist Party Of Australia Members Of The Parliament Of New South Wales
Nationalism is an idea and movement that holds that the nation should be congruent with the state. As a movement, nationalism tends to promote the interests of a particular nation (as in a group of people), Smith, Anthony. ''Nationalism: Theory, Ideology, History''. Polity, 2010. pp. 9, 25–30; especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation's sovereignty (self-governance) over its homeland to create a nation-state. Nationalism holds that each nation should govern itself, free from outside interference (self-determination), that a nation is a natural and ideal basis for a polity, and that the nation is the only rightful source of political power. It further aims to build and maintain a single national identity, based on a combination of shared social characteristics such as culture, ethnicity, geographic location, language, politics (or the government), religion, traditions and belief in a shared singular history, and to promote national unity or solidarity.
